3rd Street is fast-becoming Restaurant Row 2 (except that the sequel is better this time). One of the newest additions is Son of a Gun, Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo's (Animal) nod to Florida kitsch. This seafood shack, just a stones throw from the Beverly Center, is replete with nautical tchotchkes and first-come-first-served community seating. Reservations are also available. No matter where you sit, get ready to get messy with fresh, beach-shack-inspired dishes. Wash it all back with a cold can of beer.

I will say that of all the places I ate at in LA on my last trip, this one had the least warm service, BUT, who cares if the server is having an off day/life when you're eating the life-changing lobster roll? Oh and for dessert, get the lime sorbet-graham crumble-meringue situation, it was divine.

While the Lobster Rolls are the clear winner at Jon Shook & Vinny Dotolo's seafood themed eatery, there are a ton of great items on the menu including the shrimp toast and chicken sandwich. If you can breakaway from your busy schedule, lunch is always a good time to visit without having to endure the long waits or the crowds.

Tiny portions of quality food. Highlights are the lobster roll, shrimp toast and oyster loaf. Great spot for lunch.
