Launch your passion for foreign film at this inviting and unpretentious art-house video store..
The Scene
On the left side of this unassuming, cement-floored storefront, the usual spate of mainstream movies sits neglected, quietly gathering dust. But over on the right side of the store, where the foreign films are kept, it's a whole different scene. Customers mill about enthusiastically, thumbing through rows of Japanese films and occasionally pausing to discuss Eisenstein with the friendly and knowledgeable staff.
The Goods
Blockbuster may still be a better bet for the latest, well, blockbuster, but if it's been dubbed or subtitled, Rocket Video is the place to find it. The extensive collection of foreign films is neatly organized by country of origin and, in several cases, by director too. Hard-core video lovers should consider becoming a member--a reasonable payment for the first year comes with all kinds of perks, including cheaper rentals.

So-so.
This store is pretty good on the selection. It sort of leaves something to be desired when compared to some of the finer selections in LA but it does quite well when compared to a Blockbuster or Hollywood (but who wouldn't?). It actually has a quer cinema section which is different, so, perhaps beneficial. Seems to cater more to the horror/schlock lover than the film lover. A good store none-the-less. It's only a one day rental, though (for 2.50 after you've paid 20 or 30... can't remember... for the membership). Don't know if I recommend it.
