Editorial Review for Professional Drum Shop – by Steve Coulter

The Scene
Since the 1960s, Professional Drum Shop has been a Hollywood haven for drummers. Drum heads proclaiming the names of greats like Charlie Watts, Elvin Jones and Ed Shaughnessy are mounted behind the counter where the friendly and informative staffers answer questions and solve problems. Every corner of the large showroom resonates with the crashing of cymbals, cracking of snares and intricate rhythms of L.A.'s drum elite.

The Goods
Boasting a full-service repair shop plus new, used and vintage gear, this is the place where drummers congregate to shop and swap tips. But despite all the arcane knowledge and hard-to-find odds and ends, Professional Drum Shop also does a good job of keeping up with the latest innovations and trends. Restored Slingerland and Pearl kits from the '50s and '60s stand side-by-side with sparkly modern models from the likes of Pork Pie Percussion and Drum Workshop.

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

I have been using Pro Drum Shop for a great many years now and have always been treated with professionalism, respect and most important to me...made to feel welcomed. I am a Local club musician in the Riverside area, and tend to spend the most I can on the best possible gear to help cut down on purchasing the same item again due to poor construction, so my dollar HAS to be stretched and spent wisely. I have not been disapointed at all. I usually do great research, get pricing from various competitors and still come back to them for a major purchase. I have delt with Stan and he has always given me the best possible deal for my dollars. You dont get personalized service like that at "the Chains". I am a percussionist so I can literally spend hours roaming their store.......they have that much gear of interest to look and try. Not to mention the history from the drumming worlds past and present adorning their walls. If your are involved in music on any level, as a drummer/percussionist, and have not visited......I highly recommend it!!! stop by myspace dot com/percussionme and say hello sometime - Peace

Pros: everything you wanted to buy locally......is there for you to try out!!

Cons: For me.......a bit out of the way
