What People Are Saying About Anarkali Indian Restaurant

In Short – By day this place looks rather divey from its weather-worn exterior, but come nightfall, the twinkling lights around its red sign create a charming sort of allure. Indian music plays overhead as guests walk through wooden arches that lead the way to decorated walls lined with draped red vinyl booths. The middle row of tables fills the rest of the dining area, which is usually packed with neighborhood locals looking for an inexpensive (and somewhat exotic) meal. The extensive menu features page upon page of curries, tandoori dishes, roasted meats and breads. Service is friendly…

Editor's Tips

The Extras:
Though it's not listed on the menu, the house-specialty dessert is a sweet naan bread filled with coconut and raisins. Just ask your server.
What to Drink:
Indian Kingfisher beer is available by the bottle, but another way to cut the heat is with a cool, creamy mango lassi.

Great Food & Service

by xandersean

My friends and I love going to Anarkali, they have the best Chicken Tikka Masala in town. I also love their Shrimp Vindaloo, it is balanced perfectly. We love Anarkali, because they know how to take care of their customers. They are very accomodating to everyone's needs. The service is very friendly. I love the ambience of the restaurant. Anarkali also does delivery service, which is perfect for me when I want to stay home with my lady.

People have lost touch with what good Indian food tastes lik

by Vigneshm

We were visiting from the Bay Area which by no means is the mecca of Indian food. However the service and food at Anarkali in Los Angeles were absolutely terrible. Being from India my family has plenty of experience in Indian food

First of all we had a 50 off 100 coupon which the restaurant itself offered on a website. Not only did the waiter make it a point to remind us that certain things didn't qualify EVERY TIME he came to our table(we know how to read thanks), he was loud enough to make others know we were using such a coupon and in a way were inferior to others. I am sorry for being diligent enough to find a deal you were stupid enough to offer.

The food was terrible( i think the fact we had a coupon played a role ) . Everything was ordered very spicy. In return we got oily ( we could see the oil floating on top of every dish) , bland and an excuse for food. In fact the service was so poor that they forgot to bring the sweet dish for the already expensive thali.

  • Pros: the waiter was very eager to pick up the credit card
  • Cons: terrible terrible non-spicy, oily food. Never again

I have to say that two of my favorite dishes, Chicken Tikka Masala and Shrimp Vindaloo were exceptionally great. Vindaloo was nice and spicy and you can taste the flavor of the dish. What can I say about the masala? It was perfect.

The service was great, which sometimes can lack at some Indian restaurants. Thank You Anarkali!!!

  • Pros: Consistancy
  • Cons: Nothing that I have notice
