THE GRINCH WHO STOLE SCHNITZEL.
The rudest treatment I've ever received from a restaurant in my life. We never even made it in. When I called to get directions and contested them sending me south of Franklin instead of north, I was asked if I had a map and when I said yes the man I was speaking to said, "Good luck!" and hung up on me.
My family and I were so looking forward to trying them out and enjoying a nice Sunday supper. We'll be dining elsewhere tonight. Can you even believe they hung up on me? I wasn't yelling, I wasn't being rude, I was just disagreeing with their directions and trying to get them to understand that we would be driving east on Franklin and that their directions to turn right on Griffith Park Boulevard would take us south --- AWAY from their restaurant. I wonder if their food is good? We will never know. Nor will any of our friends or relatives. It's amazing how even a stranger's rudeness can ruin your day...

shock.
I was a patron of this place for many years and yes I am German. The food is great here, the neighborhood is awesome. unfortunately I showed up on a Tuesday night where they had a German version of Austin Powers lounge singer that wears a white wig. I have never felt so insulted in my life. This lounge singer did nothing but make fun of Germans, the accent, & the culture. what an insult. I don't think I can bare to ever go back. No thank you, why would I want to go to a German restaurant where the entertainment makes fun of Germans?

Another Great Patio Location.
There is nothing like drinking great German beer while dining in an amazing patio -- perfect atmosphere for gathering with friends. The service is always great with waitresses in Bavarian outfits. Sometimes a pianist plays live music. And the atrium has one of the largest selections of beers I've ever seen.

German Pubby Goodness.
I'm not usually one for brief reviews but... brats, beers, beers IN brats, and waitresses in lederhosen. 'Nuff said. Sit in the patio with a crowd. Sit on the ground floor as a pair -- the piano man is a riot.

My favorite bar in L.A..
This place never dissapoints, from the half yard German beers to the open air patio, and authentic German food that really hits the spot. I always like to sit out on the patio with friends and Iv'e never not had a good time at this place!

I'd go back.
A bit smokey and dark inside, and sometimes it's hard to find a place to sit (or you can just hang out at the patio). I hate that I had to park almost 4 blocks away. But I'd go back for a drink. A good variety of beer, all very good. Hofbrau is probably my favorite.
Nice place to enjoy with some friends and drink some yummy beer!

Red Lion used to be cool, in a neighborhood sort of way , even before the patio was there. Now its MTV cast off , look a-likes , "newbees" to the neighborhood and hipsters that have taken the cool factor to another level ! wanna be rockstars and loud chics screaming WOOOOO !! after every toast ! Gross ! no thanks, i'll sit home with the bong !

Good Service.
Authentic German food was excellent! We sampled the cold cuts meat tray and various beers. Dinner portions were plentiful and a real treat to the palate. Awesome fries. All was superb! Our waitress, Lydia was courteous and always served with a smile. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. We have eaten there many times and will always return when we visit LA.
