love dive bars, nice bartender, this expensive can, expensive drinking habits, great stop, interesting neighborhood folks, great place
Great typical neighborhood bar. I lived in the neighborhood in the '60s and it was a regular stop on the way home from my office. Always a great stop after dinner at Ostaria Nonni (now closed). Usually some interesting neighborhood folks.
WARNING: Expensive Dive Bar!.
There are certainly 500,000 better bars in the world where you can drop $23 for 4 bottled beers. The bar is a dive bar; and i love dive bars; but this is not a place where they should be asking for these prices.
2 New Castle bottles ($5 each), 1 Stella bottle ($5) and 1 Guinness ($7!!!!) poured form a can should not be this expensive. with tip; TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS! come on man.
the bartenders were nice enough but as a self proclaimed silver lake hipster i will be enjoying my expensive drinking habits elsewhere.
This place is GREAT!. The bartender is awesome. The atmosphere is mostly locals and a few young hipsters. Great place to hang out and have a drink or two!
Atwater Village watering hole offers cheap drinks and a New York neighborhood bar ambience..
The Scene
Club Tee Gee has been around since 1946, even though the throwback design scheme, with wood paneling, wall mirrors and sparkling stucco ceiling, feels more like a '70s film set. There aren't any windows, but there are plenty of leather booths and tables to make for a cozy scene. The long, well-lit bar provides numerous stools for lounging and black-and-white glossies of Frank Sinatra hang overhead. Unlike many dives, it's clean and friendly, with an inviting charm. Sporting events are often broadcast on one of three TVs, while groups of friends challenge each other at darts or rule the bar's popular jukebox, which is loaded with everything from rock and roll to "Mob Hits" and other standards.
The Draw
A mix of hipsters, neighborhood nine-to-fivers and others divide time here. During the day, it's populated by retired folks; evenings attract happy-hour seekers and at night, the scenesters file in.
