The real deal - Honest and Affordable!

by jujudiva at Citysearch

I had my non-running 1980 Vanagon towed to Jomag without any discussion of repair rates. I just spoke to Mauricio on the phone and described the problems. Everything from a gas leak to non-running engine to broken interior lights. He called me the next day and described everything he had fixed. I braced myself for the $300 plus price tag and when I asked, he told me I owed him $87! I was thrilled! A dishonest mechanic could easily have taken liberties with a broken down vehicle that just got dropped off by an anonymous tow truck driver, but not Mauricio. Also, he was highly reccommended to me by another female Volkswagen driver. I won't even think of going somewhere else if I have another problem with my beloved Vanagon.

  • Pros: Knowledgeable, asks good questions, honest, well priced
  • Cons: Couldn't get my van in for five days (but busy is good...)

So helpful and friendly!

I just got back from Jomag for the first time, and it will CERTAINLY not be my last!! I had a blown power window/mirror fuse on my 99 VW Cabrio. The usual mechanic I take it to said it would cost about $300 (mainly labor) to fix this fuse. I figure, its a fuse - I can fix it! I removed some covers, checked the fuses and could not find the right one. Turns out, it was a bit trickier than that. I looked online and saw great reviews for Jomag, called him and he said in a very friendly voice "Bring it by and I'll see if I can help. It should only cost $2." Two bucks? Worth a shot!! So I brought it over, Mauricio welcomed me, fixed the fuse right in front of me and even replaced the covers I had taken off. He stood up and said with a smile "Back on the road!!" Then he proceeded to NOT charge me anything. What a guy. Not only was he friendly, fast, knowledgable and trustworthy.....he was kind as well. Great combo. I will be coming back for all of my VW needs.

Oh, another plus....he spoke great English which I have had trouble finding. I love my car, and need someone I can communicate with. Mauicio is fantastic!!!

BEST AND MOST HONEST MECHANIC IN LOS ANGELES

by diane_magnette at Citysearch

My last car was a 1995 Jetta with the most unusual problems. I was desperate and overwhelmed until my boyfriend took me to Mauricio, owner of Jomag. Mauricio and his crew have always been able to detect the problems right away and fix them so they will never occur again. He is fair, honest and incredibly nice. As upset as I can be when a problem appears, I immediately feel relieved to know that I can go to Jomag and am always happy to see Mauricio. Yesterday, I had my new 2000 Jetta towed to him form Marina Del Rey... It cost me $112 dollars... $112 is a lot of money for a struggling student like me but I would do it again and again for Jomag exceptional service.

  • Pros: Nice, Honest, Fair
  • Cons: None
