What Our Expert Scouts Say

Eagle Rock Italian Bakery

Deli & bakery in one. You can get your lunch and have dessert without having to change locations. They are super fresh and have great selections in deli meat. You can't beat the prices either. The small is about $4 (a bit smaller than a 6") and the large is about $5 (a bit smaller than a 12"), way better quality than Subway.

Cakes with the perfect mix of buttery frosting and moist filling and huge submarine sandwiches are the draws of this Italian bake shop.

ER fave for over 40 years. Delicious traditional cookies and pastries, subs on fresh, house baked bread and Italian groceries. Good prices.

I agree with carssone!. We miss Sarno's on Vermont and were told that this bakery had similar Italian pastries, cookies and rum cakes. There's a deli in the back and Italian products as well.

The rum cake is close to but not quite as delicioso as Sarno's. The pastries and cookies are wonderful though.

The female clerk, however, was surly and impatient. Why is it that the Italian bakeries (e.g., the now-defunct Ramona's in San Pedro) have such terrible staff members?

Good products, rude staff. Had to give this place 2 stars despite offering great food, the wait staff is very rude, I dont understand how some people can keep their jobs with such horrible manners, must be related to the owners...

Traditonal Italian Bakery, Could be the last one left...... Eagle Rock Bakery is the last of a dying breed. It?s as good as it gets if you like traditional old school Italian bakeries like the now closed famed Sarono?s of Los Angeles, and Villa Rosa?s of Rosemead. They make all the traditional Italian Pasties, Cakes, Cookies and Breads. The Sfogliatelle are delicious, the varied Cookies have distinctively different flavors?, and the bread is crusty on the outside and soft on the inside like bread should be. They also carry Italian meats, cheeses, and typical imported Italian dry goods like canned tomatoes, Anchovies stuffed with capers, and Pasta. The staff is courteous and helpful, but remember their Italian, and like the other persons experience below, if you are pretentious, we Italians can and will generally put you in your place. Enjoy, you will not be disappointed.

Best Italian Bakery in Los Angeles. Whether you want a sandwich, fresh bread, sweets or shop in the store, this gem of a bakery was a staple in my life growing up in Eagle Rock. The rum cake is my favorite birthday cake that has not diminished in quality over the past 40 years. A MUST stop in Eagle Rock!!

Good pastries, average sandwich, terrible service. I went to Eagle Rock Italian Bakery for dinners to take to Hollywood Bowl. The bakery section looked wonderful and the guy was helpful. On the other side with the deli sandwich was a nightmare. The lady was extremely rude because I ordered many sandwiches! When I ask about their daily special, she got even more upset, rolled her eyes, and raised her voice. The sandwich quality is basic and no better than Subway, not as good as Togos. I probably won't go back again, but I did, it would be for the pastries only and I would avoid the other deli side.

Who knew?. I can't wait to go back to this place. I ordered a carrot cake for my co-worker's birthday and had the whole office freaking out over how good the cake was. Also, the deli looked amazing. I am excited to go back to try their hoagies.

The Rum Cake was Delicious, Staff was so attentive!. I have lived in the area all my life and I have always wanted to go into the Italian Bakery but had always put it off. I went to buy my father a birthday cake and I decided to get the Rum Cake. It was so delicious, rich and just perfect. I think I am going to make this place bakery of choice. The prices were reasonable and the pastry selection was incredible. The staff was so helpful in answering all my questions.

GREAT lunch spot. I can't believe I'm the first to review this place. It's this wonderful hole in the wall mecca of italian meats, cheeses, desserts and imported goods. The staff is always friendly and helpful despite the often lengthy lines. Be sure to get a cookie (or ten) for the road.
