Tips for Tommy's Burgers

You know what you get - anything smothered in chili. You go to Tommy's to hurt yourself with a delicious burger, dog, tamale, or fries smothered in chili and topped with a slice of processed American cheese. You don't go to Tommy's looking for the vegetarian option. It doesn't exist. If you're looking for a vegetarian option...walk across the street and go to Blue Hen for great organic Vietnamese food. They have wonderful vegetarian options.

Tommy's is the definition of a glorious gut bomb...in the best sense of that phrase. You order it with everything...chomp your way through the meal and then sit back and wait for the hurt. If you have a sensitive stomach...make sure you take your acid pills BEFORE you take a single bite.

Chili to Die For!. I am a converted vegetarian (about 10 yrs.) and Tommy's chili tamales and chili fries is the only non-vegetarian item I have missed. Their chili is the most delicious spread I have ever had; it is very addicting. Sometimes I would order two chili tamales and a chili fries all at once! Not healthy, if you keep doing that, lol! But oh, so tasty and great if you're disciplined enough to not eat there all the time! The hamburger patty is very bland tasting and sort of reminiscent of burgers you used to get at the school cafeteria. This place is super generous with pickles by the way! The tomato slices are very thick and fresh. Note to lettuce lovers--no lettuce in the burgers here! If you're like me and a previous poster and don't like salty fries, you can get them without salt on request. I've always (when I remembered to) ordered their chili fries that way.

Got good medical?. I'm sure everyone out there reading this (including Kirstey Alley) is saying to themselves. What is this famed franchise Tommy's I keep on hearing about? Well let me tell you. If you can handle a burger smothered in some of the most gastro-intestinal disturbing chili ever concocted outside of Dr Jekyl's lab. Then this is the place for you!! The chili cheese burgers are quite grand. The fries on the other hand are way to salty. You can only notice this if you order the plain fries. As the chili ones mask this attribute. Oh and don't be a poseur, go to a Tommy's like the one in Eagle Rock that has outdoor seating. The indoor Tommy's are for men who Tivo reality tv.
