Editorial Review for Four Seasons Resort Santa Barbara – by Gayot.com
The Scene
Luxury has never looked so, well ... Californian. This casually elegant hotel is the crown jewel of Santa Barbara's ocean properties. The secluded location is far from the clamor of the local waterfront, and there's enough to do right on your doorstep that you need never leave. For starters, Montecito's long, lovely Butterfly Beach is right across the street.
The Details
With its low-profile Spanish-Mediterranean appearance, grand lobby and 22 acres of tropical landscaping, the hotel captures the essence of upscale Santa Barbara. Guest rooms and secluded cottages are showcases of traditional cum West Coast design, decorated with muted colors and beach-inspired art. The resort's La Marina Dining Room offers California Cuisine with international flair by Chef Martin Frost. In the spa, couples can unwind in an ocean-view suite equipped with a fireplace and twin massage tables.

We stayed here for my birthday recently and we both had a good time. I had a whole day at the spa with the master suite, which included a private table, bath, patio, fireplace, and bathroom and it was gorgeous! Our cottage had it's own private patio as well however we both feel the decor is hideous, the room as well as the bathroom. Room service was excellent, we tried almost all of their salads and their cocnut shrimp. A train does pass by several times in the night and the beds are not the comfy. A good overnight trip, but we probably won't go back. The Four Seasons of Beverly Hills is much, much better!
Pros: Good room service, close to beach
Cons: Bad decor

My husband and I recently spent our anniversary at The Biltmore and I just cannot praise them enough! We stayed in a cottage and it was worth it; beautifully decorated and private with the most comfortable bed ever. We especially appreciated the 'mountain' of chocolate covered strawberries and champage sent to our room with a hand-written note from the manager wishing us a happy anniversary. The service was perfect and the staff could not be friendlier. My only complaint was with our experience at the hotel restaurant: Good food (which took forever) - just not great. Next time we visit this hotel, we will have dinner reservations elsewhere. One more thing: there is a train that passes by the hotel property and could be heard from our cottage. It wasn't that disturbing but you may want to ask about it when you make reservations. But we will be back!
Pros: Dreamy beds, Perfect Service, Private
Cons: Possible Train Noise
