Citysearch Editorial Review. When it comes to Creole and Cajun cuisine in Los Angeles, this unassuming restaurant is one of the city's staples. Situated in the Crenshaw district, this New Orleans inspired hub couples its fried clams and seafood gumbo with live jazz performances on certain week nights. Couples and guests donning slacks and skirts kick back and enjoy the tunes while indulging in plates of shrimp etouffee, stuffed crab and fried chicken. The restaurant tends to cater to an older crowd, and the live band that fills in on weekends plays a variety of R&B and reggae songs.

New Orleans Cusine brought to Los Angeles, CA. Yes, it’s a bit for the “mature” crowd but it’s actually a cool place. They’ve been around since 1989. It’s a decent size place packed but cozy. There’s live music 7 nights a week. They serve lunch & dinner. Alana & The Masterpiece Band are good, singing/playing classic R&B and some jazz. Alana performs Thurs, Fri, Sat & Sun. There’s no cover charge. The food is good. The fried chicken & fish are well seasoned. The salad w/grilled chicken is humongous! The drinks are well prepared & all at a decent price (Amaretto Sour $7.50, Strawberry Daiquiri $6, about 6 fried chicken pieces & french fries $8.25). There’s no dancing but you can enjoy the music while watching the game on their big screen TV’s. If you’re looking for a mellow night out w/o breaking the bank. This is the place to be. Friday & Saturday are the better nights. Valet parking is $4.

I know it’s gotten mixed reviews but it’s as bad as all that.

SIMPLY THE BEST!. On Saturday, April 15th, I reserved the large dining area to accomodate my party of 27. It was a birthday celebration in honor of my father's 85th bday. The staff did a wonderful job of making the evening a memorable one for me, my family, my friends, and most importantly..for my father!

The atmosphere was relaxing...the music was smooth...and the food was absolutely delicious. And the service...Latosha and Dionne were SIMPLY THE BEST! Both young ladies were very attentive to all of us...food orders were taken in minimal time and they delivered the food to my guest in such a timely and professional manner. Even the champagne toast and cake cuttingh were right on point. La Louisanne delivered in organized fashion.

Please believe me when I say this..La Louisanne is an awesome restaurant and I will definitely pass the word around.

Service is the same Everytime- awful. The music is good (most of the time) the food is good all of the time. And the service is the same every time -awful. Use your credit card to cover your tab then keep your receipt, and check your account the next day. I have been overcharged more than once. When I pay cash I always count my change. Only once did I get the correct change, usually the waitress takes a dollar or two extra. I am a former waitress and I always over tip because I know how hard the job is... but I do not appreciate being short changed. I Go there often because I enjoy the atmosphere and the music. I usually go on the same night, at the same time every time and my drink always costs a different amount every time.... and I always order the same thing. I have paid from one to six dollars for a plain cup of coffee. Single men you will not have a problem getting a drink but women should plan to wait... and wait. The last time I was there the waitress appeared to be under the influence of something and was extremely rude. I tell myself that this is a taste of neighborhood charm and it is easier to deal with the service. Besides once I get my drink I don't have to deal with them again. And on the positive side I know I will never get drunk because I won't order multiple drinks... and if I do there is no guarantee that it will ever be delivered. Have fun

What a joke. A friend and I went to this restaraunt/club in hopes to have a good time. Not only did the waitress carry herself in the most "Unprofessional Manner" she was unfamiliar with basic drinks we ordered. When she brought our drinks of course they were wrong (even after she verified twice when taking our order). Not being one to make a fuss , we just let the waitress know they were wrong , she started and argument with us and said she couldn't hear what I'd said when I ordered. She took it back and returned about 10 min later. With all that we tried to enjoy the jazz setting.

What's more frustrating is after this horrible service and wait time I experienced, looking into my bank statement on Tuesday I was charged 3 separate charges on my card $56.40, $30.90 and $17.50. All of which I only ordered and signed for was the $17.50 This was not my first time at this establishment and I do my best to support but why is it that a "Black Owned business can't conduct themselves in a more business like manner ? This place has a beautiful setting a huge bar, but the service I 've experiences at the bar on 3 separate occasions is less than poor.

I will admit that the food is very good which was my reason for driving 70 miles to get there, (we arrived after the kitchen was closed) but now I am seeing that it may have been better to just stay home.

Expensive vittles, and bland too!. Correct us if we're wrong, but isn't cajun/creole food sort of known for being spicy and flavorful? The last time we ate in New Orleans it sure was. Sadly, that was not the case at LA Louisanne. The restaurant itself is very nice: comfortable seats, nice bar, live music, groovy decor, valet parking. Unfortunately it all started going downhill the moment we opened the menu and saw the prices. The downhill slide continued with the flavorless institutional salad dressing, the bland fried clams, the seemingly unseasoned fried chicken, and the gummy jambalaya totally devoid of spice. The stuffed pork chops were overcooked and again, pretty plain. For roughly $30 per person for dinner, we were hoping for more than large portions.

La Louisanne. I love this place, the food is great. They play jazz and have a live band. The atmosphere is warm and comfy.
