nice food, really liked place, rich smoky flavor, decent parking, poor neighborhood, gross potatoe salad, efficient extremely
Best barbeque in the city, Avoid during rush hour. I've been telling people about Woody's for years. Whenever I have the tast for barbeque I head south for this establishment. While the neighborhood is not the best, I've never had any problems and have seen all races there. On New Years, we always get one of there trays which lasts three to four days. The prices are excellent. Parking is poor during rush hour because street parking is limited. Call in your order and usually it'll be ready for you except for holidays because the place is generally packed. but believe me, the wait is worth it.
What a Tasty Treat!!!. The area is not a place to be after the sun sets. However, the food was so darn good. The rib tips were so meaty, tender and flavorful. The sliced beef was equally tasty. The restaurant was very easy to get to pending you don't mind being in south central L.A. The inside is like a prison with a bullet proof (I assume) glass barricade at the counter. The workers were EXTREMELY friendly and efficient. Parking was decent and was just adjacent to the restaurant. Plenty of meat selections and other side dishes to choose. The prices were exceptionally well and the "dinner portions" were enough to feed two. You won't be disappointed, so check it out!
terrible location but best bbq in la
sits in a run-down strip mall in south central la
anything but fancy describes this place but the q is excellent
BBQ in tha HOOD!. I absolutely LOVE the food at Woody's!! The have the BEST BBQ Beef sandwiches - OH MY GOD!!! I can't rave about them enough. Although the sides could stand to be "beefed" up in size, because it's barely enough to get you excited...but the food is GREAT!! This isn't a "sit down and dine" spot...just a neighborhood "get your food to go" spot. I've had food catered for a party and it was a huge hit! The lunchtime wait might be a bit of a hassle...and even if you try calling ahead, that might not be cool either...just go there...sniff your way to the smell of the sauce! It's just west of Crenshaw...you'll love it!
We went in with high expectations. Woody's was recommended by friends and we had heard of the reputation - the best barbecue in LA. Well, if this is the best barbecue in LA then I'm moving to Memphis.
While we enjoyed the rich, smoky flavor of the beef tips and chicken, the ribs were too moist - almost stewed, and the links had too much filler. The sauce was tangy but could have used a little heat, nothing special really.
Woodys is OK barbecue, but we were expecting mind-blowing barbecue, especially considering how expensive it was. If somebody bought it for us, we would eat it, but we're not spending our own money again.
Real Southern Que here, baby!.
This is the best authentic "que" in LA! You want real slow pit smoked meats, then this is your place!
This is in a poor neighborhood! But worth it!!!!
Authentic Southern BBQ.
The only place in LA - that I know of - that makes real, old fashioned, homemade links. The chicken links are the BEST!!!
They have another location on LaBrea & Market in Inglewood. Food is consistent in both locations.
10. What can you say? It's Woody's. I've been going to this place since I was a kid. No seats. No reservations, just pick up your food and go.
awsome. good place for the workplace to order for their potlucks
mmmmmmmmmmmmm. This has always been a hot spot for good food and sometimes a little bit of entertainment. It is in La after all.
