Just what I was looking for!!. Just what I was looking for!! I signed up for the adult martial art class, and Sifu Scott does the best job around teaching mixed martial arts in a traditional setting with meditation and mindfulness. I'm not sure there is another school quite like it within driving distance. I feel very fortunate to have found this dojo. I've already had some friends and family sign up after me. I'm happy to recommend to anyone.

Beautiful place to practice!. Beautiful place to practice!

Not only does the school look like you want to practice there, but the teaching is also top notch. I've really come to appreciate Sifu Scott and what he has to offer. I love the great workout, techniques, and mental aspects of this school.

Best workout of my life!. Well, let me also say that my first impression of the school of martial arts west la was that it doesn't look like any other school I have practiced at before, it's a lot better; I have over 7 years experience total in both Shotokan Karate and Brazilian Jui-Jitsu styles and have experienced quite a few schools. I love practicing at this location and not just because of the environment. What I was looking for in a martial art school is effective self-defense, cardiovascular workout, and quality teaching: Effective self-defense is much more difficult than it might seem. I'm a petite woman, who is all of 5 feet tall, and I don't have the weight and power of 6+ foot man. Because of my size, I need to practice truly practical self-defense. So far, I'm very satisfied with what is being taught from an effective technique perspective. Since I break a hard sweat and breathe heavy in every class, I must say I've been consistently happy with using martial arts class for all my cardio needs... thus my opening statement. As for quality teaching, well, this has been an issue in the past for me. I have experienced many athletically talented teachers in martial arts. But I've come to the disappointing realization that athletically talented does not mean talented at teaching. I'd just like to say I hold my now current teacher Sifu Scott in the utmost regard and now consider myself one lucky experienced student. Other notable positives that people may want to consider are the ample free parking (2 additional levels of underground parking; living in Santa Monica helps you appreciate this) and the schools' open schedule to students (which allows me come in any day the school is open; which is helpful in my case because of my changing schedule). I am hopeful this review is helpful to any potential or existing martial artists. I have a descent amount of experience, I truly do love practicing here, and if you are shopping around for a true martial arts experience, definitely put this school at the top of the list for consideration.

Best martial arts school in L.A. Period.. Best martial arts school in LA. Period.

I've practiced martial arts for almost my whole life and the instruction is top notch.

Beautiful facility.

Brad was very helpful and knowledgeable, and Sifu Scott knows his stuff.

Every class is a killer workout. I leave sweaty and sore and looking for more.

Superb job with kids!!. I have 2 kids who've practiced a couple different styles the past few years. One of which is a popular local karate chain. We recently decided to change martial art schools and were very fortunate in finding this one. This school is something different, and much better, from what else you'll find out there from my experience. I truly wish my kids had gone here from the beginning of their practice. I think my wife and I have wasted quite a bit of money and time elsewhere. The difference between schools is night and day. Instead of an overpriced fun babysitter, our kids are now learning real martial arts, getting great physical excercise, self-defense, and all at a significant fraction of what we paid the past few years elsewhere. I am very doubtfull there are equivilant schools to this one, let alone better ones. This school does an absolute superb job.
