Save your money! Don't patronize Compari's!
by CSMobileUser3 at Citysearch
I ordered from Compari's tonight as I've done many nights. The food was literally thrown together. I was given a pizza without sauce that was burnt and pasta with sauce that was inside the bag when I removed my container. There ended up being more sauce on my kitchen floor than in my container. Having barely eaten any portion of both overcooked items, I called and complained. I have never had such inedible food delivered to me. The man who answers the phone (the usual voice, but not the person who took my order tonight) was beyond disrespectful. I will NEVER order nor will I eat anything that I THINK came from Compari's again. The delivery guys are so kind. I hope they are able to find good jobs when Compari's goes out of business.

If you have ever been to italy or sicily, you know what types of food to ask for and I'll tell you, some of the most common Italian dishes Compari's does not make. Their Pizz and Pasta is great though!
- Pros: Everything they do have is delicious.

This is a delicious restaurant with great pasta and soup and bread. Better than olive garden and italianos
Best Pizza and Great Prices

I love pizza so much that I've tasted almost every pizza in town and Compari's is delicious! I don't eat chain pizzas. When someone says "let's order a pizza" it's Compari's for me. Everyone who tries it gets hooked. I order the pepperoni with veggies and extra sauce. I love traditional pizzas, no white sauce and gouda for me. If you like tradtional italian food, this place is for you. Try the antipasta salad and spaghetti and meatballs too. The restaurant is small, but the staff, father and son, are VERY NICE!
- Pros: Great food, friendly staff
- Cons: small
Great pizza find on the Westside

Ever since the closing of the great Playa del Rey pizza joint Irvulla's I've been searching for a good pie. Been to Abbots, DaVitas, Damiano, Mulberry, etc and, you know, they are so-so either in pizza or ambience or both. Comparis is the real deal. A small charming unpretentious neighborhood Italian restaurant you can actually sit down in and eat in comfort. Usually some recorded Italian tenor singing opera to lend atmosphere. Yes it is in a strip mall with a dry cleaner but you will be sorry if you pass it by. The pizza is excellent with thin crust that is chewy not crunchy (which I detest). The thinness however is not wafer like and comes near to being Sicilian. Toppings are excellent but traditional - I crave old fashioned pizza with pepperoni/sausage/onion/anchovy and not some tricked out Wolgang/CPK Thai chicken or duck pizza so take my review accordingly. The pizza pan is placed on a small holder with a candle to keep the pie warm - a nice touch. Prices are reasonable since this is not Beverly Hills or Santa Monica. There are only a few average wines from Italy or Argentina on the menu so if this is an important issue bring your own or rely on beer. The waitstaff is friendly and cooking times minimal. I have never had a problem parking or showing up on a Friday night without a reservation. Since I live in Westchester I can get take out home in 10 minutes and can flatly say the pie holds up that long. I have no experience with longer take out times. If you order take out, when they say it will be ready at such-and-such time they are right on. Given all the mediocre and over-hyped pizza in this town I strongly advise you to try Comparis, I think it will please both the New York and the Chicago tastes.
- Pros: Excellent pizza
- Cons: Closes early
