The first public art college in Los Angeles churns out graduates in the creative fields ranging from digital media and fine arts to fashion design and toy design. – In Short
Holding claim to the title of first public art college in Los Angeles, the Otis College of Art and Design prepares students in the fields of art and design. Offering liberal arts and science degrees and a graduate program, Otis began when "Los Angeles Times" founder Harrison Gray Otis bequeathed his MacArthur Park property for the creation of the school. Today, Otis has expanded to three campuses. The eye-catching "punch card" design of the Kathleen Ahmanson Hall(built in 1963) is meant to embody the bond between design and technology and the future.
