Disappointing after a great start

Started great with a hearty French onion soup and crispy garlic bread, thought I was going to be pleasantly surprised. Spoke too soon, the filet of sole was rubbery and lacked seasoning. The fish wasn't dry or overcooked, I don't know how they got that texture. The wild rice was tastelss, recommend lots of salt. Maybe they have a specialty, but stay away from the fish.
not what you'd expect

I had good expectations for the breakfast since it was recommended. While the service was friendly, the coffee was weak and the food tasted overly processed. I had the crab cake benedict. The crab cake was very fried & tasted like something out of the frozen food section. The orange/cilantro hollandaise that accompanied it was bad. My husband had the regular eggs benedict & thought the hollandaise sauce tasted like it was from can. After looking at the menu a second time we realized, there is nothing French or New Orleans style about this food with the exception of the French onion soup. The menu jumps from Mexican, Mediterranean, Italian, American, to Deli stye, etc. The restaurant is trying to be too many things at once. And with a menu like this, I can't see how anything would be fresh. To sum it up you get Disney World ambiance with Disney World food, at Disney World prices.
- Pros: friendly service
- Cons: poor food
A good dinner and some random shopping

The French Quarter, at least for me, is a place to have a good sit-down dinner. Parking is usually a bit of a problem, but once you're past that, you can enjoy a nice meal. I've always sat out on the patio, so I can't attest to indoor tables, but the outside ones are always fun for me. Meals are hearty and delicious. An ice cream sundae followup never hurts either. After dinner, I've enjoyed browsing through the shops inside. The only thing I've ever bought was a greeting card, but the indoor shops are pretty much an experience (ok, I'm exaggerating a bit...but they're nice). Good for brunch.
- Pros: Hearty meals
- Cons: Often crowded parking
