Tips for Urban Outfitters

June 20, 2008

Trendy chain that models the latest fashions and bold home decor in a colorful, vivacious atmosphere.. In Short
Straight from the funky street styles of Southern Philly, this bohemian-chic shopping mecca has evolved to offer everything from trendy men and womens clothing to vintage-y home accessories. Brands like Lux, BDG, and Free People encompass the stores' youthful, ironically humorous, and comfortable designs. While apparel is the main draw, the urban emporium also sells kitschy, retro, and downright odd knick knacks and accessories for the living room, bedroom, and kitchen as well. Each section is packed with creative arrangements to peruse while listening to a soundtrack of the staff's favorite tunes.

In my price range and nice for browsing. I like this Urban Outfitters on Melrose and pretty much find something to buy every time I go. The prices for some of the basics like t-shirts is probably a tad high, but I'm a fan of the casual button downs or the earthy polos. All this stuff reminds me of back home in the midwest for some reason. I'd never buy shoes or jeans here...they just aren't my style. And I browse through the nick-nacks but never buy. Generally, my sentiment to Urban Outfitters is positive so I'd recommend making it a stop on your long Melrose stroll.

Good for the price!. I go to Urban when I need to inject my wardrobe with something young, fun and colorful. It's NOT the place to go to find anything "dressy" or "elegant". But casual is fine.

The t-shirts and shoes that I have gotten from them have lasted pretty well...and I've gotten compliments for them!

I've been to this branch a few times. Recently the staff has been more spaced out. I asked one salesgirl to help me find a skirt in my size. After about 20 minutes, no sign of her. I guess it was the end of her shift, so she just left? Staff needs some help.

ok merchandise for teenagers. the melrose location is bigger than the new one built in studio city and not quite as big as the one on the 3rd st. promenade. the merchandise ranges from clothing to various home goods and furniture. the prices are low, and so is the quality. if you're on the teen-24 year old range, then you might enjoy what's being sold and see it as something worth buying. when you've seen beyond the scope of what's being peddled to teenagers, you'll go somewhere else. good for cheap t-shirts and candles at least.

Well..... This store was a disaster by the time I got to it. Carrying tons of merchandise is a pro and con in a lot of ways. I hate having to dig through things to find what I want, but UO manages to lay it out so it's relatively easy, with exception to the sale stuff.

Not sure that it's really necessary to have all the apartment stuff - I don't even bother to look. Glad that the changing rooms are upstairs - it's a nice little respite from the chaos on the main floor.
