In Short – Right across from Fairfax High School, this sporty sneaker shop is actually two stores in one, with one offering sweats, T-shirts and gym bags, and the other carrying a dizzying array of athletic footwear. Both concentrate on hip-hop and skater styles. The low-priced shoe shop carries all the major brands--Converse, Nike, New Balance, Puma. Whether you're looking for something you just saw on the courts or a style that's more retro, you'll find it here.
Shockingly bad customer service!

I went to this store on my a trip to LA in 2007 and thought the selection was really cool. Although they never seemed to have my size in the shoes I wanted, I did finally manage to find a pair I liked in my size and bought them.
Last week I went back to the store on another trip to LA. I tried on a pair of sneakers, but they seemed a little tight and I wasn't sure. They didn't have the next size in any of the other locations, so I decided to take the smaller pair and I said to the sales guy "well, I'll just get them and if I get home and they seem to small, I can just come back and return them, right?" and he said "yes".
When I got home and tried them on again in my hotel room I realized that they were really too small for me, so I went to take them back. The guy at the cash register was on the phone and the woman who was standing next to me wouldn't look at or speak to me. It seemed very rude somehow. He finally interrupted his phone conversation when he realized that the woman was just staring into space and not helping me. When I told him I wanted to return the shoes because they were too small and they didn't have a larger size, he told me I could only exchange them for something else or for store credit. I told him that I had already found that they didnt have my size in everything I did like and that store credit wouldn't do me any good since I was going back to Europe in a few days. He told me I could order online, but I told him that with shipping costs and import duties that would double the price of any shoes.
He wouldn't budge on the issue and all this time he was still on the phone having another conversation while talking to me. It was very rude. I told him about the conversation I had with his salesperson and he asked me who it was, but the sales guys don't wear name tags and I couldn't identify him in the store. He also pointed to a small sign on the wall explaining the return policy and he told me that it's on the receipt. I told him that I don't tend to read things in small print that are stuck to walls and that I can't read the receipt until after the sale is made. He didn't seem to care. He said I should have asked. And then I got back to my point that I did ask.
Then he proceeded to ignore me and started waiting on people who were standing behind me in line. I felt very badly treated, not only by the fact that I basically got screwed on $100 but also by his snobby demeanor towards me. And most of the other sales staff there seem quite unprofessional too.
- Pros: the variety of shoes they have
- Cons: return policy and customer service and availability of sizes

I called to see if they had what I was looking for..Nike Shox....over $100+...they did. When I walked into this dirty, crazy place with shoes lining the walls.....I went inside and sat down waiting patiently for some sales help.......nothing happened!! I went to the front desk.......where a rude, busy women was manning the cash register....she told me she would get someone to help me.......again I waited and nothing happened.....when I finally had some help (looked like 18 yrs old) he knew nothing about shoes.....just shrugged his shoulders when I ask him a question........I now had waited over 25 minutes and had not yet tried on a shoe!!....Stay away from this place.....unless you want to be treated very poorly........I am going to Foot Solutions or Front Runner in Brentwood.......Hoping to be treated more humanely!!!
- Pros: If you want to be treated like dirt.......go here!
- Cons: If you want to be treated like dirt!...go here!
the city's best selection of sneakers

I am one of these people that only wears flip-flops, even to fancy places, but if I absolutely MUST buy a pair of closed-toe shoes, Sportie LA is the only place I would go. It's cramped, noisy, parking is impossible, service isn't great.. But there are just SO many shoes, particularly the Pumas I tend to covet. It's not as "cool" as Undefeated but there's way less attitude, which means that it wins the battle of sneakers stores, at least as far as I am concerned.
