This neighborhood eatery has won a crowd of devoted customers with its laid-back atmosphere and consistently delicious food. Lunch is the busiest time of day. That's when young Hollywood insiders and incognito WB stars crowd the restaurant's breezy patio area.
The Food
It's all about the grilled meats and Brazilian spices here. Tender chicken breasts or snapper filets are marinated in a citrus blend and accompanied by sweet, gooey plantains, black beans, rice and yucca flour. These meals are true belt busters. The pesto verde pizza is another delightful treat--robust pesto sauce and a smattering of goat cheese play beautifully off the sun-dried tomatoes. For a lighter meal, opt for the Bossa salad, a cobb salad enlivened by Gorgonzola. Finish Latin-style with a café con leche and a buttery coconut flan.

Bossa Nova is around the corner from my house, and so I've eaten there or gotten takeout a number of times. I almost always end up getting something from the Brazilian grill or sandwich sections of the menu. (The latter is more popular with me when I'm ordering take-out.) My wife seems to always get the pasta. We've never been disappointed with our food, not even when we order take-out. I'm sure it helps that we order take-out, not delivery, and pick it up right when we were told it would be ready by. The downside is that it can feel a little loud & bustling, but that's not a big deal because it's not like we've ever had to wait for table. Then again, I don't remember us ever eating there on a Friday or Saturday night. In fact, the food seems to go hand-in-hand with the atmosphere with its bold flavors and festive feel: I kind of feel like I'm eating my favorite backyard barbeque cooked by my Brazilian uncle (who doesn't actually exist). In the bottom line, I think there's a very good match between the food you're served and the price you pay. It's nice to find a tasty spot in Hollywood that's not about the hype.

Came here at 130am one night after drinking with friends. The food was good, the service was good and the experience was overall... GOOD. My ONLY issue was that there were lots of stripper / pr0stitute looking girls there because it is right accross the street from a strip club. I'm not a prude and I don't mind good looking women to look at when I eat, but these women were dressed in skimpy little wh0re dresses and skirts which was somewhat distracting. There were also several thuggish looking black guys that come by from the strip club. I am sure it's different at lunch / dinner time, but this is what you will find late night at Bossa Nova.
