view & uploadgreat service, great food, not like owner, great brunch spot, great melrose breakfast, great lunch, great price
A wonderful surprise!. Wow! I've been twice in the last couple of months, and both experiences were wonderful! Our service was great, the food was outstanding, and they even surprised us with a HUGE loaf of bread to take home. I am planning to take a group of friends there next week. We also loved the little red velvet cupcakes that come free, like bread, with the meal.
This place continues to go downhill.... This used to be a great spot for late breakfast on the weekend, but the past couple times I have gone, regardless of how many tables are filled, the service is abominable. I went with my boyfriend a couple weeks ago, and though we were seated promptly, we waited fifteen minutes before a waiter came by to take our drink order. Another ten minutes later we got our coffee, and the manager (or at least a guy who seems to think he owns the place) brought us a couple cupcakes. Ummm, thanks, but I'd rather have decent service and a meal I actually ordered. The same guy was lavishing attention on the couple seated next to us because they brought their puppy. After eating our food (finally), we were halfway out the door when the manager-guy gave us a free loaf of bread. Hey, I'm all for freebies, but after a sub-par breakfast at a cafe that pays more attention to cute cupcakes and cute puppies than their paying (human) customers, I can say for certain that I won't be going back.
Bad food, terrible service!. I had the lobster benedict which arrived cold and the eggs were overdone. The red velvet cupcakes mentioned in another review were bland and had no frosting, because they'd run out! And the service became a joke: the waiter asked, "Can I get you anything else?" as though we were finished, but we hadn't yet received our food. Other times, someone would come by the table and say, "Did you order the cookies?" which we hadn't, or another waiter would try to give us someone else's entrees. It got so bad that we kept telling ourselves, "at least we used the coupon from citysearch!"
Lobster Quesadillas and Red Velvet Cupcakes. The lobster quesadilla, eggless, is one of the best things I've ever tasted, the owner is one of the nicest and most generous guys in LA, and the succulent red velvet cupcakes beats out any cupcake compeition. You gotta try this place.
Editorial Review. Casual, Melrose bistro famous for all-day breakfast menu of creative scrambles and an eclectic mix of salads, pastas and sandwiches.
Best Cafe for miles in every direction. Tasty... reasonable prices... breakfast all day... delicious fresh salads and sandwiches... relaxed comfortable atmosphere... a front row seat to Melrose people watching... This is my all around favorite breakfast/brunch/lunch cafe in L.A. ... better than the Blu Jam, the Griddle, Doughboys, Lulu's... although they're all good, too, for a change of place... it's just I keep going back to the Vienna Cafe and they're always the best!
brunch spot. great place to have brunch on a saturday or sunday.. the outdoor dining is great for people watching.. the food is also tasty and inexpensive..
Perfect for Brunch!. If you are shopping on Melrose and are interested in a great spot for brunch be sure to stop by and check this place out. I had the Stuffed French Toast and it was absolutely amazing, my girlfriend had the Eggs Benedict and was most definetly pleased with her choice. I also recommend the Passion Fruit and Green Tea Iced Tea. We had our puppy with us so we sat outside, they brought her a great big water dish. All in all a very good brunch spot, fast and friendly service and not pricey!
Best Breakfast. They make the best eggs in town. The potatoes are also unparralled.
