great best italian food, great service, like quaint atmosphere, love ol pace, favorite place, expensive wine, bad experience
$15.50 Chocolate cake.
I went to Pace two years ago and was impressed. I went there again this month and was disappointed. The bread was good, and the pasta was good. A bit over priced but nice atmosphere. Disappointing was the fact the cake was $14.50 (and average) and a $1.50 was added for ice cream (a la mode) even though the cake was $14.50? Sorry, will the cheapskate running Pace just include the measly extra scoop of icecream and not charge extra? Or include it in the price... it's the principle, not the $1.50.
The Decaf coffe was $3.75 a cup. Not latte or cappucino but an average or below average cup of Decaf for $3.75. Wine was tasty but expensive. Over all the place is nice but over priced and a bit rushed service.
I will hesitate before returning.
One of the best restaurants in Los Angeles. This restuarant is one of my absolute favorites. I have been here half a dozen times and it never fails to be less than excellent. The food is so good. The service is great and the atmosphere is perfect. It is tucked away in a charming building on Laurel Canyon. You definately do not feel like you are in LA. I wish there were more restaurants like Pace. The pizza is really really good.
Romantic, elegant, warm and cozy with great food and wine - always satisfying.. Pace is elegant, romantic, warm, sophiticated and charming. It is hidden away in Laurel Canyon under the little convenient store. It's a true gem! Pace is owned by the same people who own the fabulous Cheebo on Sunset Blvd. But is a little more sophisticated and high end. The food is to die for. The steak will melt in your mouth. The salmon is cooked on a slab of cedar and the wines are all top of the list. This is a fantastic place to bring someone that you really care about.
AWESOME. I have never had anything short of spectacular here....the food is always great. Love the pizza and the pastas!!!
Always a good time. I wind up eating here a little more than I like, because it's close by and my girlfriend's favorite place. I really don't understand - it's in a basement, very loud, and too dark. I guess she likes the cozy feel. There is always interesting people watching, however. The service is pretty decent here - efficient, but not overly personable. You can tell they are always busy. In the kitchen, they do great work with vegetables - from the salads to the sides - always very tasty - great flavors from the sauces and dressings, but you can still taste the essence of the vegetables. They really stick it to you on the price of the specials (a lot of restaurants do that). I've really enjoyed the BBQ spare ribs and the lamb shank, but the burger disappointed. Pastas are very good, too. The olives they bring to the table with the almonds when you get started are some of the best I've ever tasted. Desserts are good, too - everyone loves the molten chocolate cake you have to order with the rest of the meal.
Our favorite restaurant in LA. Best atmosphere in town.. We eat at Pace about once a week, and have never been disappointed. The food has only gotten better over the years, and the service is great. We even had a wedding party there- rented the whole inside for our rehearsal dinner, and everyone loved it. This is also a great place for a gathering of friends. Definitely make reservations if you want to sit outside. And you do want to sit outside. The atmosphere is fantastic. We especially like the endive salad with goat cheese, apple, and currants. The fish dishes and specials are always great, the wood burning oven pizzas are amazing, and the wood grilled chicken is also very good.
Used to be great.....
I went back to Pace last week. The menu is smaller and more expensive than before. The wine list decreased and is pretty much restricted to expensive wines now. The service is OK. The place is still a nice spot for date/friend dinner.
But totally disappointing compared to what it was 8 months ago.
A Hidden Gem. I took my boyfriend to Pace last week and was blown away by the experience. This is easily one of the best restaurants in LA. The ambience is beautiful, warm, and romantic, tucked away in the canyon (there was construction on the road but it was still easy to get to). The whole vibe is so unbelievably warm and chill. Our waitress was beautiful AND a good server-- a rare thing in LA... The food is AMAZING. I had the salmon, grilled on a cedar plank and rubbed with herbs with roasted root vegetables and potatoes. I can honestly say I've never had a better piece of fish. My date had the homemade tagliatelle with prosciutto and asparagus. Ssssooo good. The pasta tasted like it had been made that morning. We had a chocolate cake for desert that we had to order in advance... a little overwhelming, but still delicious.
give it another go.... in the last 2 years Pace has become even more unbelievable then before. 2 years ago it was great and fun, now it is a destination with fabulous food, gorgeous waiters and wonderful ambience. Worth every penny and every trip. A must go to place..I swear by the rib eye and the taglietelle pasta!!!
fantastic italian food. this is a great neighborhood restaurant. the food was amazing and the service was great. it was worth the trip.
