What People Are Saying About Oki Dog

In Short – The original Oki-Dog (celebrated punk rock hang out and fast food landmark) is long gone, but it is survived by two locations--hot dog huts that are stunning in their nitty-gritty. The most colorful elements of decor are the eccentrics who invariably drift in for a bite. The goopy namesake concoction is a burrito-meets-chili dog: a jumbo frank split lengthwise, grilled, slathered in chili and cheese, then folded into a giant tortilla. This no-frills stand is a popular post-club hangout, and hangover-helper destination for the morning after. –

Had to do it

by Danial Knows Best at Citysearch

Okay, three stars is five when it comes to oki dog. It's a punk rock icon so five stars would be way like giving into the masses. This was one of the first places on my list when I moved to LA. I was crazy about the Darby when I was a teenager and I don't think I ever outgrew it.

The oki dog is exactly the kind of sludge your stomach needs after a night of shots and beer at a local show. Great place to kick back with your friends and relax.

Great place to hang out

by OldStreetWhore at Citysearch

I was an Oki Dog regular when It was on Santa Monica Blvd.It was a great place to not only pick up tricks, but also to buy meth. The time of day never really mattered. The place stayed crowded with street people and cops.Jimmy "The owner" was always walking around looking for anything that would get him in trouble with the police.I can't count how many times Jimmy beat up a customer and threw him off the property. The video arcade was always filled with people selling dope and that location made more money than any other fast food place in the area. You had to buy something in order to hang out.Oh the good ole Oki Dog days. This sure brings back a lot of memories.

  • Pros: You can always find what you're looking for
  • Cons: The place is being watched by the police.

Take a Date

by cheekybass at Citysearch

Scare your date when you stop here after late partying. The place looks like an abandoned shack. But the food and atmosphere make this place somewhere everyone should try atleast once, and then go back just to be sure. I'm still trying to convince my wife to go back for another Oki Dog, after 2 trips.

  • Pros: Old time feel, Food, Service
