great food fast food, decent juicy burgers, great fried zucchini, decent succulent fries, recommend place, ripe gardenburger delux, great customer service

Good ol'fashioned greasy spoon burger joint. Love the old school onions rings. Cute diner vibe inside. Nice patio outside. Prices reasonable
AVOID any night. Skip this restaurant. We went there tonight and i ordered a cheeseburger with just ketchup and onions, my husband had hot dogs with Mustard. We got the food to go as we live around the corner from here. For starter i watched the cooks pick up the hot dogs off the grill with just his hands-no gloves or tongs. The cheeseburger had a minimum of ONE CUP of ketchup on it on each side. Clearly a joke taking place between cooks at this dive. The hot dogs were more than smothered in at least a cup of mustard each dog. Dont trust the cooks here, God knows what else they did with our food. I wasnt in on the joke and they figured we would be gone home with our food anyway, not be sitting at the restaurant so we would not see what they had done to our food. I wish i could put up a picture of what they did here. Then on our way out the guy at the register insisted we take a handful of ketchup- so he too was in on the game. Cook at home or watch everything that goes on behind the counter. Not worth your time.
Recommended when hungover.
We were really excited about going to Astroburger tonight, but weren't as excited when we left.
All I could think is that it would have been better on a hungover afternoon or to fulfill a latenight craving.
I'm all about fried vegetables, especially zucchini, however i'd have to say that the onion rings take the blue ribbon on this menu. Fries are average, and zucchini has me asking if there really is any zucchini beneath all of the breading surrounding it. Did I order a basket of corndogs?
My friend felt similar about his burger, questioning if there really was any burger amidst the toppings doused in grease that were smashed between shiny slices of bun. He didn't have much to say about his chocolate shake either--we stopped for fro yo afterwards. It was made of soft serve, chocolate syrup and milk--i think? He insists it was powder and water.
I recommend the veggie burger without cheese--it made my burger taste like a load of cheddar with some shredded lettuce in a bun. You know when you have to add ranch to a burger to make it taste better, its probably not your Grade A patty.
Basically, we came home and passed out. Exactly--perfect for a lazy, hungover day.
Not recommended if your trying to be productive, or healthy. Or feel good about yourself.
The price is right though--you can have all this for just $20.
Fantastic Burger!!!!!!!!!. These guys know how too make a burger, wow. My girlfriend is a vegetarian and she was raving about the Gardenburger, try it.
Wide Selection; Great Garden Burgers. While I enjoyed the wide selection of food offered (from burgers to fried chicken to omelettes), I was a little disappointed in my burger. Don't get me wrong - it was good and the avocado was super fresh, but not anywhere near In-N-out burgers. For vegetarians, however, the selection and quality of the gardenburgers are quite good; i also enjoyed the fried zucchini (could use a lighter breading though). All in all, it's a good place to grab late night munchies.
Go to the other location!.
Forget this location. The Astro Burger at 5601 Melrose, LA CA 90038 is far superior to this one. The menu is much bigger and the serice much better. Especially if you are a vegetarian, the options available at the Melrose one are phenomenal. The meatless Chick'N Grill one of their most beloved burgers, is not even available at the Santa Monica location.
I believe this one has horchata which is not available on Melrose, but other than that, I see no reason to go to this one as the other one isn't that far away!
An Astro Burger regular. I hit Astro every weekend and they are truly the best when it comes to old fashioned, diner food. Having cut red meat out of my diet recently, I went from Astro's patty melt to their garden melt (ask for the flame grilled patty), and honestly cannot tell much of a difference. Their fried zucchini and onion rings are out of this world. Their milkshakes are great too. Sometimes they screw up what type of cheese I want on my garden melt, but no biggie. The chicken quesadillas and veggie dog are good too, but my fav. is by far the garden melt!
Love The Cheeseburger.
I ordered a cheeseburger at Astro Burger on Santa Monica Blvd. yesterday. I liked it very much. And it only cost me about $3.
I tend to favor charbroiled hamburgers.
When it comes to hamburgers, the Astro Burger on Melrose and this one taste pretty much the same.
The Astro Burger (Santa Monica Blvd. Location). Don't listen to haters who base their overall rating on 1 bad experience. I have been a regular at astro on santa monica blvd for as long as i can remember. I have tried nearly everything on the menu...and there's something for everyone. Some of my favorites include the Double bacon avocado cheeseburger, pastrami melt, chili hotdog, tuna melt (add grilled onions and avocado), and the garden burger. A must for sides: fried zucchini, chili cheese fries, or onion rings. I know this place is open late and is great for after party, late night grubbing. Hands down, i think they've got some of the best food fast food around
classic fare done right. i've tried time and again to duplicate their version of the veggie burger, to no avail. be prepared for sloppy yet delish classic fast food...burgers, hot dogs, burritos. carl's jr. has nothing on this place. oh, btw...i'd skip the melrose location. not only does the santa monica one seem somehow better in food quality, but there is much more foot traffic in this one, making for good people watching, and the service is friendlier.
Good everytime....
Everytime I have hit Astro Burger, I have been pleased with the quality of the food. Plus the food is made fresh and there is so much variety, you will never get tired of it.
I highly recommend the vanilla shakes and onion rings.
