Editorial Review for Wasteland – by Wendy Hermanson

In Short
Savvy buyers keep the joint packed with merchandise from virtually every decade. You never know what you'll find, from couture pieces to last season's French Connection pleather slacks. Don't miss the cutting-edge accessories (gold '70s chain necklaces and new Playboy-brand wallets) and the huge shoe section, which features killer castoffs such as studded red-leather sandals and Lucite-and-gold heels from such labels as Chinese Laundry.

Insider Tips

Save Money

Trade in last season's favorites for cash. From noon to 5:30pm daily, you'll get 35 percent off the sale price for clothing.

The Extras

Prices are low to high. Designer labels command designer prices, but there are great bargains, too. Leather and suede items can be pricey. The shoes are a real steal; both designer vintage and modern lines go for $15 to $20.

When I entered the joint I didn't expected to find so many gems for such reasonable prices. Soon I realized that almost everything on the hangers had a name. Most clothes are still in good condition and the selection is pretty large for men and for women. I use to snoop around the cloths racks once in a while and mostly find something cute and--most important--individual and unique.

Pros: Variety, quality

Just happened to stop in while shopping on Melrose with some friends and was pleasantly surprised to find a large selection of designer clothes for very reasonable prices. Got a great Morphine Generation jacket for $100 that retails for $500 new in stores good as new. It's time consuming but worth it make sure you aren't in a hurry when you go.
