I saw a stylist named Ashley yesterday and she was amazing! The place is fantastic, chill and unpretentious and quite a bargain. I asked for a clean cut, conservative, but not too conservative (I work in a rather conservative environment) and voila! I love it! Slightly edgy, but still classic in shape. It's a no nonsense salon. I love that. I've been looking for a good stylist in LA that wouldn't rival my monthly grocery bill and I believe I found it. Ashley is professional, welcoming, thoughtful in her work and just talented. She's got quite an eye. If you're looking for a good haircut, I believe this is the place. I couldn't care less for the uppity atmosphere at various places in Beverly Hills. See Ashley! She's so chill.
Pros: Talented stylist, down to earth, no nonsense place

I went here after reading the near-unanimous praise heaped upon it here and was sorely disappointed. I asked for something simple: for a trim and to keep the same style. I explained the two ways I wear my hair-- one for work, another for play-- and even gave a demonstration. I even said how that result has been achieved by previous stylists, by texturing and varying the length in certain places. While she seemed attentive, she ended up not doing what I asked. It's not even that she did something different; she just did a poor job. My hair now has blocky edges, and there are areas that she seems to have totally missed. While she did use clippers to trim the back, she never even used clippers to trim around my ears. My hair is still a mess around there. She textured maybe three fingers-full of hair in what is a pretty large head of hair. The stylist was friendly and the collaged walls were nice and all, but my haircut just wasn't that great. I've had much better service at other places, even places that are much cheaper. Perhaps my mistake was not choosing to go with a "senior stylist" who would have cost a bit more. If that is the case, though, I'm troubled by the two tiers of service varying so drastically. To boot, I was sent out the door with very wet, unstyled hair that was combed down, even though I said a few times that I wear my hair up. I was just astonished that there was no offer to style my hair before I left, especially considering that they sell their own house brand of styling product. Now that I'm home and able to style it, I realize that this isn't the haircut I asked for at all. This might be a great place to see and be seen, but for me it's no place to have my hair cut.
