view & uploadwonderful place, good phoenix tea, great finger sandwiches, affordable informal afternoon tea, very slow service, hot tea, great price
Chado Tea Room has a huge selection of teas. You can also buy cups and other items or stay there for a cup.
Cozy and cute - cucumber sandwiches anyone?. Stepped into this quaint and cozy spot with a couple friends a few weekends ago. They were cleaning up after a baby shower but still had time to showcase the amazing array of teas. The tasty tea tiers help to set the mood for a lazy afternoon of gabbing. The lavendar earl grey I had was a bit overpowering, but my friends loved the chai and chado teas. Overall thumbs up!
Best Afternoon Tea Place in Los Angeles. This is a great place to catch up with a friend. The restaurant offers a wide array of tea to satisfy all kinds of tea lovers. You can order the tea cold as well as hot. Although I enjoy green tea, I enjoy sweet and creamy teas with my scone. I recommend the Phoenix tea which is has a sweet, caramel flavor. Definitely a must-try!
Standout scones and tea in an unpretentious atmosphere. Chado tea room is a funny little place. Mostly classy with a hint of kitsch, the dining room is decorated in a traditional lacy tearoom style with unexpected touches, like a curiously executed painting of panda bears. But decor aside, this place is great. All of the good parts of afternoon tea with none of the pomp or snobbery, this tea room is perfect for a nice afternoon break with friends. The tea menu is unbelievable, and provides a great description of each tea and the perfect opportunity to try something new. I think my favorite part of the visit was the scone with Chado cream, though, served with fresh sliced strawberries and preserves. Absolutely delicious, and the perfect option for anyone looking to pass the afternoon in a relaxing place that won't break the bank.
Good for both having tea and buying tea. Three things make this place standout from other places to have "afternoon tea." First, you can have any tea they carry. As this is a tea shop, their tea choices make most high tea venues look deficient. Second, their sandwiches are traditional with a unique twist (not to mention very tasty and served on toast). Third, its more casual without losing the high tea atmosphere. The staff is very pleasant and they recognize their regulars (you become a regular the second time you drop by within a week). And the prices are great. If your significant other keeps bugging you to take her to a nice tea, this is the place. Good tea (they'll even make it iced for you), a substantial lunch, and a reasonable place.
Best tea!!!. I am a frequent tea person,..always searching for new tea and dessert places. I have to say that Chado Tea room is the best. They have the widest tea selection out of any tea room I have ever been, their sandwiches are great and the scones come out nice and warm. Chado cream is delicious,..its very addictive. Good service, good price, I recommend this place to everyone!

The Scene
This elegant dining room is appointed with delicate doilies, white linen-covered tables and a shopping array stocked with an impressive display of teas from around the world. A well-heeled manner reigns as teaspoons clink in china teacups, and friends catch up over quiet conversation. The pleasant staff comes and goes in a hush of efficiency.
The Food
High tea offers traditional British-style finger foods delivered on a tiered tray. Dainty sandwiches consist of crustless, toasted potato bread spread with egg salad, chicken salad accented by cranberry-lingonberry sauce, ham and cheese, and smoked salmon. An assortment of moist scones, studded with blueberries, currants or ginger, is served with fresh fruit, jam and Chado cream, a blend of sour cream, lemon, vanilla and sugar. The meal is accompanied by a pot of freshly brewed tea--delicate Chinese green teas, African nettle and floral fruit tisanes--and ends with lemon-scented madelines and luscious custard-filled cakes.
Can't stop coming here. A huge selection of teas from all over the world fill the 50 page tea menu alone. The ROOIBOS (Bourbon, Admirals), Chai and the Chocolate tea are great - come in cute little teapots with all the knick knacks. The three tiered afternoon tea is delightful, the finger sandwiches are very tasty with hand selected ingridients, the scone with cream and jam is fabulous and the lemon bundt cake is out of control. Definately worth a visit. Cozy place is filled with (mostly) ladies catching up on gossip and families, but also no problem to come as a twosome and share in the tradition of high tea. Even men can venture in and not feel ashamed to order a cup- it's not just a girl's thing anymore.
