In Short – Perched on a prime corner of Beverly Boulevard, Kings Road packs 'em in on the weekends. This blaring coffeehouse comes complete with a charming pet dog and a smoker-friendly patio tailor-made for reading the Sunday Times and quaffing giant bowls of coffee. Breakfast offers such standbys as poached eggs and crumpets, while lunch and dinner vary from ahi tuna with sweet potatoes to linguini with spicy chicken sausage.
I *heart* Kings Road Cafe <3 <3 <3
by Sheauen at Citysearch
This is place was always packed every morning with a variety of people spilling out onto the sidewalk on both the cafe/takeout side and the sit down side. Got me thinking, I need to try this place.
Stopped by one day for coffee and a take out breakfast. The lattes are perfection. whoever is operating that machine knows his espresso and his steamed milk. Got the breakfast panini sandwich, they forgot to um..panini press the sandwich. it was still good though. Hearty portions.
Trip 2, coffee and a blueberry muffin. Dad, who is extra picky about his mochas gives this place his hard to attain stamp of approval. he had a pastry and that was a hit too.
Trip 3, coffee and blueberry pancakes to go. HOLY SCHNIKES! rarely do i find pancakes life changing but these had plump juicy berries dotted all over the dinner plate sized pancake (you get three of those by the way) and was served with lemon butter and maple syrup. I almost didn't make it to work that day. I almost wanted to pull the car over and eat them right away.
Needless to say, this is now at the top of my list for brunch. They do a good breakfast burrito and breakfast croissant too. Gotta try their dinner menu. heard they have live music on Wednesday nights.
There are vegetarian options on the menu.
The only bad thing i've had there was their chai tea. I suspect it has more to do with my lack of appreciate for chai tea, i like mine really sweet and creamy. Theres is heavy spiced, unsweeatened with no cream.
all in all, i hope this place NEVER closes.
- Pros: healthy food options, great coffee, laid back
- Cons: crowded, bustling and loud, parking sucks
Best Brunch in LA!
by Strauss at Citysearch
This place is amazing...one of the best brunches I've ever had. The omelets are ridiculous good, the staff friendly, and the environment chill. Love it.
- Pros: Example: best croissants in town
- Cons: What are the drawbacks?
$10 Burger and Beer on Wednesdays
by jujudiva at Citysearch
I went with a group of seven last week for their $10 burger and beer Wednesday night. The place wasn't too, too busy, so we were able to pull together three small round wooden tables for the group. It's not really deigned for large group dining. The waiter was hard to locate and the service was slow. You can choose from a veggie burger, salmon burger or regular burger as part of the special. Beers on tap are ok, not great - not a big selection. My friend said the salmon was dry and had to request more aioli. My veggie burger was a little burnt. The burgers come with sweet potatoes fries (more like dry wedges that really need ketchup) and a tasty little ceasar salad. Despite what might seem like a negative review, I think I would go back. I enjoyed the vibe - it had somewhat of a Euro cafe feel (right down to the detached but polite waiter). And I would probably order the same thing. So,if you're in the area and want to spend $12 (including tip) for a meal that will cetainly fill you up, then stop in. You won't be too disappointed, or too impressed.
