Best Food Market on the Westside. The way markets should be and are no more. Corporate behemoths like Ralps, Safeway, Whole Foods, etc. need to take lessons from this place.

Great selection packed into a relatively small space which by the way, is the only drawback. Independently owned, it is obvious when you walk in the door that every employee takes pride in what they do.

Old fashioned butchers that are clearly masters at their trade. Amazing sushi made right on the spot and great seasonal selections of wild fresh fish.

The price whiners should shop at the big-box stores and stop complaining. Sometimes it's a little more and sometimes not. Personally, I would rather support a locally owned landmark that has delivered great service and products for decades.

A small-town grocery shopping experience in the heart of Brentwood.. The Scene
Fed up with the big-box supermarkets takeover? Then hark back to the good ol' days with a neighborhood market that brings small-town charm (plus friendly service and incredibly fresh food) to the big city. The only drawback? Tiny, cramped aisles that don't leave much maneuvering room for your cart.

The Goods
Vicente Foods carries all the requisite grocery store staples plus cosmopolitan extras served up with hometown flair. Among the treats: a large sushi selection, freshly prepared goodies like guacamole, salsa and tapioca pudding in the deli section, plus breads and soft pretzels from the La Brea Bakery. The produce section features fresh fruits and vegetables stacked up in unbelievably tidy, symmetrical displays. When you leave, your groceries are packaged in impossibly cute, red- and white-striped paper bags--the final flourish in the old-school shopping experience.
