Chanos...seriously? Drunk food ONLY
by KatieHillUSC
Definitely a Trojan hang out... but only at 2am after the 901 Bar and Grill closes its doors, and only for those who are really, utterly intoxicated. The food is not good! It has a lot of hype for no reason other than it's convenient. I don't know why it reigns king amongst its fast food neighbors, yuck. I would not trust to eat the meat they serve and have you seen the nachos? They are soaked in grease, as are the burritos. It literally leaks through the bag. And talk about sketchy location! Speaking as a USC student who lives in the area, I do not recommend hanging out on Figueroa at night. Pass on Chanos. Get a sober friend to drive you to In 'N Out if you really have a fast food craving, come on.
- Pros: nothing. it's actually disgusting.
- Cons: everything. it's actually disgusting.
Chano's more like Banos

I heard the hype of Chano's from USC students, I tried it and came to the conclusion that those recommending it must have been drunk when they visited. I had the chorizo con huevo burrito and was disgusted by it. While eating it I had to take cartilage/bone out of my mouth (multiple times) or wipe grease that was dripping down my arm. I have known 2 people who have gotten very sick after eating at Chanos. This place is only good for their fries. I can't believe it has such a good rating on citysearch. Shame!
- Pros: Fries
- Cons: Food, outdoor seating, bad neighborhood
Not bad

There are plenty of "better" Mexican/Californian food stops than Chano's, but the shanty architecture makes it worth a visit. For some reason, they built the drive-through window on the passenger's side of the car and the exit dumps directly onto the super-busy Figueroa. All in all, the food is decent and an adventure in almost getting into a wreck is guaranteed for every visit.
