In Short – Little Goldielocks may have stumbled upon a hidden gem at this family-owned hickory cabin. Drawing hungry patrons from the surrounding communities, this humble spot specializes in cookout fare like their smoky bear burger which combines three large beef patties, cheese, pastrami, a hot link and jalapeno peppers. Classic desserts like peach, apple and pear cobblers are also available in special sugar-free recipes.
Very Disappointed!!!
by fromd2you
I have never written a review about a restaurant before and I felt the need to write one because of my disappointment. So be advised that I will be as truthful as possible.
I have always wanted to try this place. I live about five minutes from there and I am an advocate for supporting family owned places in my own community. I have also heard great things about it. Needless to say, I was very disappointed!
The place does not seem very clean. There were at least 4-5 flies flying around in the inside dining area. Price list is not understandable, it is very messy. Things are written on paper and just slapped on the wall. I didn't see a "grade" posted, which is something I always look for.
Please be advised that there are signs on the wall that state that you cannot cancel an order once they start making your order. Unfortunately, I did not see it before placing my order. I placed my order and was not told the total and about five minutes later I asked if I could pay for my order and found out the total. I was flabbergasted! I paid $34 dollars for four burgers. You are looking to pay approximately $8-10 a burger. I know where I live (in the middle of South-Central L.A.) so I could not believe there was a place in the inner city that charges this much for a burger. However, they do take EBT card (food stamps). Do you think someone who is on food stamps should be buying an $8 burger.
As far as the taste? The meat didn't seem seasoned, no special flavor. It seemed like any regular burger. However, it was a big burger. Too big for any regular size person.
We all have our own preferences...but I have to say that I prefer an In N out burger any day.
If you try it for yourself, I hope your experience is better than mine.
- Pros: Size
- Cons: Pricey, not clean, not good...
U gotta get that PEAR cobbler
by phatboi76
The burgers were as good and as enormous has I remembered from high school (1995), but this PEAR cobbler they have on the menu....is off the block. Hand me some of that pear cobbler over the peach. It's a MUST try. You won't be disappointed. Phone ur order in if you decide to order a meal. It t akes a while to prepare.
- Pros: the food
- Cons: a little pricey but hey
Flavor, finally!
by allissa2
Oh, my goodness. I have never tasted such flavor in a burger! Any way you like it! You can tell the cooks take the time to customize each order. I was told by the other patrons that everything on the menu is delicious. Every time I go to LA I will be stopping in.
- Pros: exquisite food
- Cons: parking
