your friendly neighborhood health food store.. we go to rainbow acres every few months to stock up on penta water. they always have a box or two in stock and sometimes run discounts on bulk purchases. the last two times we were in there they were discounted. we went in today to stock up and we had missed the end of the promotion by 2 days. we were going to buy the water regardless and were pleasantly surprised when they gave us the discount even through the promotion had expired.

they are a one stop shop for all your health needs. they sell toiletries, vitamins, bulk grains and other sundries, groceries, organic/gluten free frozen entrees, beverages, pet food, eco-friendly paper plates and cups, and the list goes on.

they are a little pricey but i don't mind because the service, selection, and quality are great.

every time i go there i discover something new thats good for me. i haven't eaten at their cafe yet, but i hear its great.

No more Benita. I just spoke to Benita and they fired her on Aug 17, 2009. She was the best. I shall no longer be a customer at Rainbow Acres.

Benita is the World's Best Nutritionist. Benita, the nutritionist, is a superstar. She recommended some foods and my horrible acne went away. When I was going through a stressful time, the supplements made it easy to deal with. She strengthen my mom's immune system. She is one in a million. Thank goodness for Benita.

Oh Benita.... I walked in on Saturday with a horrific stomach ache that I'd had for a week. I was seriously ready to go to the hospital but I thought I'd try RA first. I waited for Benita to finish her chatty conversation with another couple and asked her to help me. She is very difficult to talk to, I thought she was mad at me. I was really suffering and didn't need the attitude or the lectures, even though I could barely pay attention as I was hurting so much. She recommended that I try some acidophilus to balance bacteria (I can't stand yogurt) and aloe vera juice and to eat soft foods and chew carefully. I walked out of there annoyed with her but damned if the next day my stomach ache wasn't much much better and getting better every day. She's a tough one but she knows what she's talking about. Thank you, Benita!

Great Education and Customer Service!. I am an SF Bay Area resident so I do not have occasion to shop at Rainbow Acres in-person, however i certainly will any time I am in the vicinity.

However I have become aware of them because they have a wholesale distributor operation that supplies other health food and specialty stores with certain items, one of which is a sprouting jar for growin' your own sald sprouts from seed.

I purchased onme locally and had a question as to its proper use, so I went right to the source!

I called their store and explained to the routing operator what my need was. I was promptly sent over to an employee who identified himself as Doug.

Doug was a patient, great listener and responded with useful, supportive information and various options to try.

He also encouraged me to call him back and let him know the outcome.

This showed a genuine caring and dedication to customer service, which has become a vanishing commodity in the retail business.

Kudos to Doug and to Rainbow for hiring him!

Shockingly overpriced. Nice people, but colossally overpriced. Go to Vitamin Shoppe down the street. Honestly, in some cases found the exact same items at several dollars cheaper. I've felt ripped off by Rainbow Acres for years - I'd only go there if I needed something right away.

Nutritionist BENITA is horrible. She's awful to talk to--so judgmental and she doesn't listen. She is very unapproachable. Richard, the manager, on the other hand, while he isn't a nutritionist, is very approachable and helpful!

The best health food store - Period.. Great store with a new HUGE expansion. If they don't have it, feel free to pipe up and say so, because they will be happy to investigate getting it for you.

Awesome selection and super helpful and friendly staff.

I love this store!

Great chicken-apple salad sandwich!. The strip mall location is misleading as the store inside is much larger than I expected. They seemed to have a good selection of just about everyting and the deli had an amazing chicken-apple salad sandwich!
