Amazing!
by yolandahall
A really high end restaurant and just loved the service. All the servers were so kind and the sushi was amazing.
Darth Vader Roll!
by Anneevans
Wow one of the best views I have ever been to. Perfect place to take a date, and loved the Darth Vader Roll.
Love their California Rolls!
by ABlues4Nina
Love their California Rolls, talk about fresh and delicious! My ex boyfriend took me for a surprise dinner a few years back and I have been going ever since! Their Mai Tai's are amazing and the food is delicious. I love the view as well!!
Best View of Hollywood at Night
by HollywoodHotels
For three decades, guests have enjoyed Yamashiro’s restaurant with gracious Japanese ambience and one of the best Hollywood city views ever.
Elegant contemporary direction in service and food, resulting in the the restaurant’s highly praised CalAsian cuisine, complementing classic Japanese favorites.
Meeting friends and family at this legendary historic place for great drinks and dinner is a must, if you ever visit Hollywood.
Amazing View and Good Sushi Too
by Erin W Davis
Set atop the Hollywood hills, Yamashiro provides a great change of pace from most restaurants in LA. Not only are there gorgeous views from here, but they also have some interesting sushi choices. Along with the usual sushi selection they have an Italian inspired “Comfort Me, Amore” roll with goat cheese, melon, prosciutto, arugula, and basil. The “Darth Vadar Roll” (spicy tuna) is also unique as it’s made with black rice. And the “Hawaii Five-0” will make you feel like you’re on a tropical vacation with its spicy yellowtail, macadamia nuts, and toasted coconut.
Great Sushi and Atmosphere
by Adam Moore_obsolete
Probably one of the best sushi restaurants in L.A. just above the Magic Castle. The outer seating area has an amazing view of the city, while the indoor koi pond is perfect for a quiet romantic dinner. Expect to spend a decent amount of money here but its well worth it! After dinner walk in the Japanese garden and have an even better view of Hollywood
- Pros: Excellent Sushi
- Cons: None
Great Food and Great View

The sushi and the view make this place well worth it. It was my first time and I was really pleased. I will definitely come back here a few times!
IT WAS BAD BAD BAD
by ForRealz
I bought "Groupons" to try out this restaurant. Groupon was a discount that I happily paid $40 for $80 dollars of food. These groupons were sold at the business promotion site Groupon. So I booked a table and went to the restaurant hoping it would be a memorable experience that I could share with my friends. I was utterly disappointed and offended at the way we were treated by the female servers. Upon entering the restaurant their attendant says, "Oh, you're here because of the coupon!', (my thought was, "Well I'm really here because I want to try your restaurant and see if I want to come back"). After seating us at our reserved table the server referred to us as the "Coupon people". The last straw was after getting our drinks, they moved us to another table without even an apology so they can accommodate a group of 15.
I was hoping to have an experience like that similar to the ones I received at Ruth's Chris Steak house (5 stars), but the service at Olive Garden would have even put this restaurant to SHAME!
Service -- 0 stars
Food -- 3 stars
Price -- overpriced for the quality
View -- it was alright, Orange Hill Restaurant has better
If their business was doing well they wouldn't need to use sites like Groupon to bring in customers. What's so sad is that when new customers are sent in to try their restaurant, their employees treat the customers like crap. We won't be coming back for sure!
This restaurant really needs to understand that there are many people like myself that know how to cook gourmet food at a fraction of the price. We go out for the experience and the service. This restaurant was a HUGE disappointment.
- Pros: LOCATION
- Cons: SERVICE, FOOD, PRICE
Great View and FOOD!
by goartangel
We went last night for my mothers birthday and before we left I had gone into this wedsite to read reviews...
When we got there I told our waitress I was a bit concerned about the bad food reviews and I wanted to know what she liked on the menu!
The salmon is a must, seared tuna appetizer great, the shrimp dish is a little spicy and the service was spot on! Can't wait to go again.
- Pros: diverse menu, city view
- Cons: the curve up the hill if its your first time.
The drinks are good at Yamashiro but the food isn't worth it
by Valerie L
Yamashiro has an awesome view of LA, there is no denying it. We spent a good half hour taking pictures in their garden. Our drinks tasted pretty good but the food!! Ugh. I got the Darth Vader sushi roll which looked like a brownie and tasted awful. I took one bite and ate at McDonald's later. I'd come here for drinks again but I would eat dinner beforehand!
- Pros: The gorgeous view and the sangria.
- Cons: The food and the prices.
