Continental sidewalk dining for the Sunset Strip jet set.
by Contributor at Citysearch
In Short
One of the most iconic spots on Sunset Plaza, this umbrella-lined sidewalk cafe is where tourists, Euroflash and reality "stars" lunch, and where old-school Hollywood types, guys trying to impress their dates and Ferrari-driving showoffs converge by night. Though the softly lit interior is open and inviting, the prime seats for dining and people-watching are out front right below the bright yellow awning facing the Strip. French standards dominate the menu--goat cheese salad, spinach and Gruyere quiche, and traditional seafood dishes. European-inspired soups, pastas, omelettes and sandwiches are also available, as well as a tropical cocktails, wines by the glass, coffee and pastries.
great food and great patio on Sunset!

I go there maybe 5-10 times a month for lunch and sometimes for dinner! I love their menu as well as watching the exotic cars on sunset!
- Pros: They serve Calamari steak!
- Cons: sometimes very loud!

La Petit Four seems to be overrated. Although the food and service was great, I felt like people dining there were only doing so to flaunt the fact that they were dining in a notorious place.
- Pros: happy place to dine for lunch with friends
- Cons: everyone else seems to think so
Over Rated by far...

Besides the waitstaff (yes, our dear server girls) walking out of the restrooms without washing their hands and heading straight for the kitchen to bring out food to customers, the ladies room is pretty messy most time.. Service time is not bad at all... Drinks and appetizers are brought out fairly fast.. Also, the bus boys are great... Only problem I've had with this place is watching several of Waitstaff, go in and out of the restroom without washing their hands and watching them come up to bring out a dish to customers... yuck.. alkaline bacteria...
anyway, i'd consider Cafe Med or Clafouitise much better..

Best Everything!

My husband and I are from New Haven, CT and we travel to the West Hollywood area 2-4 times per year. Our first stop on every trip is Le Petit Four for lunch. We marvel in the sites & sounds of the Sunset Strip either soaking up the sun or under an umbrella. We have have never had a meal, drink or server that failed to impress us!
- Pros: Everything!
- Cons: Nothing!
I love this place!

I've been to Le Petit Four countless times. It is consistently good in both food and service and I've never had to wait for a table, despite the fact that it is pretty much always busy. Seating can sometimes get cramped when they are very full, but people mostly keep to themselves. Parking is also pretty easy, even though Sunset is a busy place, I've always been able to find street parking near the restaurant. The food is also good and reasonably priced for being in such a busy and trendy area of L.A.. (The only problem I've ever had with this place though is there was a hair in my Parmesan cheese once!)
- Pros: Food, price, location, service, parking
Disappointing for a restaurant on Sunset
by evywang at Citysearch
From my own experience and from reading other reviews, it seems like this place just doesn't have good chicken dishes. My chicken parmesan was dry and over-seasoned; my French fries also had too much salt on them. I probably should've gone with one of the pasta dishes, which my friends seemed to have no problem with. The service was adequate although the waitress seemed completely detached and disinterested. She didn't have to be all bubbly, but she could've at least said "you're welcome" when we thanked her for bringing our food, refilling our drinks, etc. instead of just walking away. I personally would rather sit inside the restaurant, which has admittedly lovely decor, than by the sidewalk where people are allowed to smoke. I'm sure my food would have tasted worse if I'd been inhaling cigarette smoke at the same time.
- Pros: Ambience; decor
- Cons: Pricey for food of inconsistent quality
Frozen food on a plate
by marpop at Citysearch
Like all the restaurants on Sunset Plaza, this joint does not impress -- at least not with the food. That said, it's better than the other restos on this stretch (and that's not saying much). I've eaten here a few times and while the sidewalk seating & people-watching are fantastic, the fare is really not much better than fair. Stuff tastes like it was frozen, then thawed, then put on your plate without much effort or care. The prices would suggest otherwise, but whatever. It's good for out-of-town guests who want 'a scene' but if you want really good food, dont do Sunset Plaza -- they must all get their stuff from the same supplier.
- Pros: Sidewalk seating, people-watching
- Cons: Same food as all the other Sunset Plaza places
Highlight dining on the Plaza

Le Petit Four is one of the best restaurants on the Sunset Plaza part of the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. Me and a friend go here every few months. The food is fantastic and the ambience is casual with a hint of romantic (avoid the sidewalk seating). The cost is reasonable for the result. If you're picking upscale, give Le Petit Four a try.
Not bad, but not amazing either

You're definitely paying for the location when you come here. The service is practically non-existant and I think my waitress looked at all of her diners like they were death 90% of the time. The wine selection isn't bad, and the food itself is good, just not worth what you are paying for it. The bread shouldn't even be served because it's just bad. The pastas and salads are good, and the duck isn't bad either. The desserts are all disappointing. All in all, come here for a glass of wine and small meal. It's a nice place to just hangout with friends.
- Pros: Pasta dishes, wine selection, ambience
- Cons: dessert and service
