Overcharged twice!
by nattyice
I do like this place, however it really annoys me that the last two times I went they put a whole bunch of extra drinks on our tab, thinking that we wouldn't notice them. Last night the waitress added 3 Bud Lights on that we didn't have. When I told her, she was very nice and apologetic, knowing that she had been caught. This isn't the only bar in has overcharged us either. In the past two months This has happened to me 4 times!!! (2 at Barney's, once at Stinkers, in silverlake, and once at the Golden Gopher downtown). It just seems like really shady business, and I think that it may be illegal to charge someone, something they didn't get.
- Pros: Good place to come and get a drink
- Cons: Check your bill!, They stick drinks you didn't have on there
Can't wait

I saw this place on tv the other day. It looks very promising and social. I Can't wait to go mingle will the locals.
Cool place, but expensive for a casual bar
by CM77651
I like this place, it's always fun and it's not super hard to find a table to sit down at. However, I think the prices are a little to much for the kind of place this is, which is a bar that you would come to in jeans and sneakers. They have a huge selections of beers from around the world and yummy, greasy food.
Casual classic hangout

I have only been to the one in Pasadena but I think it has the exact same feel. The staff is really friendly, especially if you are a semi-regular. They are great about taking care of you if you take care of the staff and have a good time. It gets crowded to get really great service all the time, but mostly they do a good job making sure you have a full beer and plenty of food. Their asian wings are phenomenal!!! They have tons of different beers, huge menu, and lots of memorabilia. This is a great hangout with great happy hour prices, decent food prices, huge menu, and lots of beer. Definately stop in. Tell Melissa (the really cute blonde bartender) hello!
- Pros: lots of choices
- Cons: busy, busy, busy...but not really a con
Trashy people only.

The waitress took too long in taking my order. Too long in having my food on the table. I paid with my check card. I kept it open for a next beer. Time to go. She lost my card. After 10 minutes she recovered it. No apologies, nothing.
The place is loud as hell, trashy people, greasy food, classless ambience. I guess this is what americans like.
I will never come back.
reliable pub grub

i'd probably never normally choose to come here -- too sportsy and fratty for me, but sometimes i've gone w/a work group. it's good for happy hour and greasy fried stuff and beer if that's what you're in the mood for. sports fans like it. lots of history.
- Pros: happy hour, cheap
- Cons: too fratty, greasy food

Good for group lunch outings

The Beanery in West Hollywood is a bit of a walk from my workplace but well worth it. They have nearly unlimited choices on the menu, enough so that I could find healthy choices when in the mood. Service is good too, and the beer selection is awesome. During the day, it's pretty easy to get a table. I imagine that's different at night, but I've never been so won't speak to it. The food is prepared in hearty portions and most items are quite good. Surprisingly, even their veggies are tasty. I'd recommend a stop at Barney's for some good stuff.
Timeless West Hollywood shack pulls 'em in with suds, cheap pool and good company.

What was once a ratty neighborhood dive frequented by beats, hippies and Jim Morrison is now a ratty neighborhood dive full of sports fans from UCLA. The cavernous interior hides many cozy nooks from which to watch the game. The infamous anti-gay policy was done away with a long time ago, but for a bar in the middle of Boys Town, you'll find a pretty straight crowd. Barney's offers a huge menu of comfort food: 150 different burgers, 65 chilis, 90 omelettes and much more. Also, 50-cent pool games, popular karaoke nights and an excellent happy hour keep the crowds happy. With 50 beers on tap and several hundred in bottles, this is a hops-lover's paradise.
It's what you make of it.

My friends and I used to hang here ALL the time...and you know what we realized???? You see the SAME faces over and over and over. The bartender Michelle, she totally rocks...make friends with her...cuz she is a great POURER!!!
The guys who work security can sometimes be a little much. Its Barneys man...why is there a need for 4 or 5 security guys who all they do is sit around flirting with the cute girls who get it. If you're cute and your female, you usually won't have to wait in line. But if you're a dude, and there's a line, you're screwed...
We have run in to our fair share of celebs here. Mostly famous dudes...but it was cool.
- Pros: Good bartenders when you can get to them....celeb spottings
- Cons: Too crowded stupid security guys.
It's a sports bar, what do you expect?
by kjbachmann
Barney's is probably a little too famous for its own good. While they do have EVERY single sporting event on their numerous TVs, it is difficult to get the employees to change the channel during busy times. I was part of a group of SIU and Arkansas fans surrounding a TV during the NCAA tourney and they changed most of the TVs to UCLA or USC, including ours. I get that we are in LA and there are not swarms of SIU or Arkansas people around, but we had a decent sized group and they wouldn't switch back to our game for us. Just one TV in the whole bar with our game please! That is all we want. They tried to shove us into a corner with a tiny little TV, and leave USC on our regular sized screen. We stood our ground and eventually got our way. Also, for all of your NFL fans out there... They will not let less than 4 people occupy large booths until after the first quarter is over. They will make you stand and let multiple booths sit empty until the first quarter is over. They do this for both the early and later games. It is completely retarded, not to mention irritating. We ended up walking up to strangers who were for the opposing team and asking them if they wanted to sit with us so we would have a group of four. It was fine, but still a little bit of a weird policy. So if you want to watch a certain game get there early to stake your claim.
They have a great and very extensive variety of beers. Their mixed drinks are so so; I would stick to the very eclectic and international beer list. The food is typical pub fare. Greasy, not healthy, but all and all not bad and what you would expect at a sport's bar? It is nice that they have breakfast since so many of the football games are on so early on the west coast. The wait staff is not the most attentive, but I have only been there when they have been completely slammed. Price is pretty average.
- Pros: EVERY game is on at Barney's! Lots of beer.
- Cons: VERY busy, problems getting a seat near your teams TV
