Dissapointed
by alcayaga
The bean soup was bland. I ordered the mole enchiladas, the red sauce was ok, I've had better. The other two sauces were tasteless. Others ordered the fish, was pretty good, but on the pricey side for the portion size. The flautas were good, but they give you three with no rice or beans. The spanish rice tested like fish, so I asked the waitress why and she said they cook it with chicken broth (okay) and did not offer to remove it from the check. We would not go out of our way to go back. Don't even know if I would give it a second chance.
The Best Kept Secret

Fabulous food, prompt and friendly service, warm atmosphere: this is what I look for in a dining experience. I have been there several times and always walk away happy. I wish they had more space becuase you do have to wait most of the time, but it's well worth it!
- Pros: It's the best Mexican cuisine you will have in LA
- Cons: Restaurant is so popular it needs more space. Too crowded for a large group
Authentic Mexican

Do not expect a huge space...this is literally a hole in the wall....an orange one at that! But the food here is really delicious. I have tried their breakfast as well as their lunch/dinner and have never been disappointed. Their cafe de olla is to die for...have it with the chilaquiles divorciados...you won't regret it.
- Pros: Delicious food at a very reasonable cost
- Cons: Can be crowded and so there may be a wait
Authentic Mexican Breakfast

The breakfast here is very good. I recommend the huevos rancheros. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You definately have to get the coffee when you have breakfast.
- Pros: Thumbs up.
- Cons: Parking on the street.
Not close to average

I went to La Casita last night after reading great reviews about it. Unfortunately, I was very dissapointed to see how small the place was. The waiter was a bit weird and was not very helpful. They forgot our drinks and it seemed they did not know what they were doing. I thought I would give the food a try to see if that was better and again was dissapointed. The food was definitely not what I expected to have after reading the great reviews. I will never return to the restaurant.
- Pros: Nice decor
- Cons: Small, tasteless
teh best

This is not just another taco joint. The food of Guadalajara and nearby regions is featured. A must-have: one of the three types of moles (a red, a green, or a traditional brown mole) on enchiladas or with chicken. Be sure to start with one of their delicious appetizers, including one with fresh cheese, mushrooms, and roasted peppers steamed in a banana leaf. You'll be surprised to find such tasty and complex food on this stretch Gage Ave, but it is certainly worth a drive. Service is bilingual and friendly.
- Pros: All the food
- Cons: Small place
