exquisite food, great atmosphere, excellent service

by trojan2001

The food, service, ambiance were all excellent. The selection of meals, wines and deserts as well as its prime location makes it for a perfect date place. The location in the Rodeo Drive district makes for an incredible view, especially from where I was sitting. It can be a very romantic place, but it can also be a place for a large party or with kids

  • Pros: location very central, excellent food, ambiance, service, with great company-it is a great experience
  • Cons: none

EMPTY. TERRIBLE SERVICE. DO NOT GO!!

by facebook

After sipping our less than impressive drinks, a patron at the table next to us started smoking while INDOORS. We requested 3 times that the manager ask the patron to stop smoking. Instead, Caffe Roma opened a window. Not only were we cold, but still sitting in cigar smoke. The patron continued to smoke and the manager denied smelling any smoke. We left the restaurant, but not before requesting that our 2 drinks be covered. Caffe Roma refused, still claiming that he did not smell smoke. Apparently, the restaurant was more interested in satisfying the smoking patron and his large party than in providing a breathable environment for all (or following the law).

  • Pros: ??
  • Cons: Very poor service. Almost empty.

New ownership and great Italian food!!

by pietra

I just had dinner at Caffe Roma and it was tantalizing my taste buds. I ordered crudaiola, whole branzino and it was incredible. I was wanting to try Caffe Roma because of the NEW ownership. Wow!!! It was the best Italian food I have ever had. The service was perfect and the management was very professional. I just came back from Italy and the food and courtyard reminded me of my trip. I plan to book my 40th. B-day party in the private wine room. The chef is nice!!! Chef Piero can create a special menu for my party. I can't believe the former chef of Toscana is the owner and chef of Caffe Roma. I will have lunch with friends Friday and try other specials. I love the food and the homemade crepes with Nutella for dessert. Great Restaurant!!!!

  • Pros: The food was amazing.
  • Cons: The ladies restroom is violet & the pizza area.

Superb food wonderful chef and great service

by qtrx

This place is now owned by the itaian restuarant biz guru Ago who used to own Toscanna in Brentwood and his chef and part owner is also the previous chef from Toscanna. Piero is an excellend chef and the food at Cafe Roma reflects this. I LOVE the thin crust pizza. You have to try it. Very nice patio area, good wine selection, very reasonable prices and very polite and nice staff. Kid and family friendly, good for big groups and for people watching. They have a DJ on the weekends who plays great music with an area for dancing. I love this place and go often with my girlfriends and with my family for dinner or drinks. Kudos to Ago and Piero ! Highly recommended.

  • Pros: Great food/cancing on weekends/kid friendly

Wonderful Italian dining experience~

by sotoe

I highly recommend Caffe Roma to anyone who loves Italian food! The ambiance and friendliness is beyond wonderful and the food is exceptional. Two Italians seemed to be everywhere at once seeing to our service, nicely dressed and ready to serve. My party ate outside in the patio area and were delighted to find Gov. Arnold among the happy quests. We were able to meet the chef, Pierro T and thank him for the wonderful food and dining experience. So friendly and nice and definetly the handsome Italian! MM MM MMMMMMMMM delicioso!! The next time we come I'm going inside for live entertainment and drinks. BIG THUMBS UP!!

  • Pros: Large outdoor patio dining as well as indoor tables, entertainment and bar..ex. service and food
  • Cons: ZIP, Zero, everything was perfect

WHY IS IT EMPTY??

by azucena

i find this restaurant precious because the outside seatting...inside though, some walls are bare and there are blemishes on the ceiling and some walls..?

the food hopefully cooked by an italian chef! i only had a salad..the weather was too hot to eat more..and it was..good..

why isn't this place crowded all the time as others places around there are? mmh maybe a visit by Chef Ramsey is in order? i see that bad review, and THAT might be a reason, 1 out of 5..that's a percentage! i don't drink so i wouldn't know about that...but atittude? a BAD problem in Beverly Hills! i saw a maitre d at Mastro's SMUG SMUG! awful! AND hostesses beeing badly dressed and wearing cheap shoes and NOT looking pretty..what's THAT! politically correct days? PLEASE bring back pretty classy hostesses!

  • Pros: location
  • Cons: no costumers

Great Local Spot

by tunnelnose

This place is hidden from view on Canon Drive, but there were surprisingly a lot of people when my boss and I came in for a late lunch. My boss was telling me how Arnold Schwarzennager always ate here, and coincidently he was there with Maria Shriver! We sat next to their table outside on the patio. I ordered the Tortellini, and it was pretty good. I really liked the creamy sauce. The bread they serve is also great. The pasta dishes range from $11-$18 so this restaurant is not too expensive compared to the others in Rodeo. The owner always came by to talk to us. He had a heavy Italian accent so I am guessing that this is a family-owned, authentic Italian restaurant.

  • Pros: Good Proportions, Ambience, Price

HORRIBLE! DO NOT GO!

by kosmo777

The drinks were horrible. We had to send them back and order something different. The steak was totally raw! Had to send that back too. The bartender, waiters, manager & piano player all had attitudes and talked about us while we ate. Everything was horrendous! very unfortunate since we had such high hopes for this place and wanted to go for so long. It ruined the entire evening. BAD VIBES~ when a place iss always empty for dinner, there is a reason!!! DO NOT GO~~~~

Great ambience,so so food..

by patatina

The food here is ok,sometimes better than others...the pizza and the calzone are fairly good, but you can take your chance with the pasta...The ambience is interesting, surreal...where Italy meets Beverly Hills...but Thursday nights are fun with Max singing and playing the piano..you can dance here a little bit of everything..dance music, salsa, italian songs etc..I often go there with a group of friends and we have a good time, dancing and singing along...

  • Pros: Piano bar on Th.night, Ambience, Kitchen closes at 2am
  • Cons: , Crowd??
