Best haircut in the West, Alex at Umberto

just when I kinda resigned to look like everyone else in LA, I was referred to Alex, who just moved to the main location of Umberto, on Canon Drive... His confidence and sense of humor immediately put me at ease, the time he took understanding my hair and personality during the consultation sold me. I did tell him I wasn't happy with the previous stylist and I was pleasantly surprised when he didn't criticize his work on my hair, he explained to me why I had a difficult time styling it. He showed me pictures, or as he calls it "visual aid" and he proceeded giving me one of the most flattering haircuts EVER.

My advice, woman to woman, go see Alex at Umberto... He's one of the few great stylist who don't have an attitude and believe in actually listening to his clients

If I could stand on top of a mountain and scream one thing it would be to NOT go to Umberto Salon.

I recently was referred to what I know now as their "Robertson" location. I wasn't aware at the time they had two locations, one on "Canon Dr" and the other on "Robertson." I looked up the address on their website and it had one address...their "Canon Dr" location. I got my directions and drove to the salon. I had to park in valet ($7/hr) and headed into the salon. I couldn't have been "greeted" by more snooty and rude people. Three stylists stood at the counter not even acknowledging i walked in. Finally a man asks me who I am there to see and he goes, "No one is here by that name." I look at the other two women and they just give me a look like I'm crazy. I go, "Well, that is the name of the stylist." He finally goes, "Ugh, you must be at the wrong location. You must be referring to our Robertson location." I go, "Where is that? I didn't know you had two locations??"

So, I go back to the valet, pay him my $ and tip and head over to the Robertson location where I was at least 30 minutes late. The stylist was irritated because I was now 30 minutes late (which I can fully understand.) She later warmed up and even offered me a product for free for the inconvenience.

Although the Robertson Salon took care of me, I will NEVER spend another penny at this salon, let alone the Canon Drive location. To those three stylists working the counter...You may "work" in Beverly Hills...but at the end of the day, you probably go home to an apartment in the valley. Go learn some customer service.

I had my make up done by Juliana Landis at Umberto for a really special event last weekend... and I got so many compliments!!! It wasn't over done. She gave me a fresh, clean look, which is exactly what I wanted!

Great Brows!

I made an appointment with Juliana at Umberto a few days ago and she did an amazing job! I am very picky about my eyebrows and have tried numerous places in L.A. trying to find someone I was satisfied with. Juliana shaped my brows differently and gave me tips on how to keep them up. Best of all - I didn't even break out after the wax like I usually do. I will definitely be back. Thanks Juliana!

Roni G. of Umberto Salon is the Greatest!

I have been going to Roni at Umberto on Canon Drive for at least 7-8 years and he is the only one I trust with my 'difficult' hair. He knows just what I need to keep it looking really great . Not only is he the best at cutting and coloring my hair, he is an expert at the Keratin Complex treatment. I have extremely curly/frizzy hair with way too much volume. Roni is certified stylist for the "Keratin Complex" relaxer and suggested it as a way to repair my damaged hair. I did the Keratin treatment and wow! my hair looks and feels amazing! Not only is my hair now smooth and frizz-free, it takes me less than half the time to blow-dry to a style that is smooth and sleek. I no longer need the flat iron and all those excess products to smooth the frizz and tame the curl. The best part is that the Keratin Treatment actually repaired my hair as it deposited the Keratin into the damaged cuticle. All the years of heat styling had taken it's toll and my hair was really damaged before the Keratin Treatment. I love that I can now wear it wavy or straight without the daily stuggle to get rid of the frizz and maintain a style...The Keratin Treatment is by far the best thing I have ever done for my hair. My hair has never looked this good! Thank you Roni!!

Amazing!!!!

I was in town for my sister's wedding and she wanted me to go to her stylist Fabian to color and style my hair. I was very nervous because it wasn't the time to experiment on my hair the day before wedding! My sister gave me wrong directions which made me 1/2 hour late....the salon actually called my cell to check on me and get me directions. They were waiting on me when I came in with smiles and kind words to calm me down. Fabian gave me a dark dark brown which was an amazing improvment on my current shade. He must have had 12 brushes in my hair used as hot rollers but when I walked out of there...I looked like I was going to the academy awards. I couldn't believe it was MY hair!

That night when I walked in the church I think I got more attention then my sister the bride. All compliments on how great I looked. Thanks Fabian for making me feel like a movie star and making me look like one too!

Nice surprise!

I recently went into Umberto's without an appointment

for a haircut. I'm normally skeptical of being a walk-in

at big salons, but this time I couldn't have been happier

with the result. After speaking with Babbette, she placed

me with Erin Johnson. I have really long hair & get nervous about going to new salons because they always

want to take off more hair than I'm comfortable with. Erin

could not have been more understanding about this

& gave me a fantastic cut. She was unpretentious &

easy to talk to. I love my hair & would definitely recommend going to Erin. Can't wait to go back.

OMG...

YAY!! I FOUND ERIN JOHNSON..... she just moved back to Umbertos and I went in this weekend and got my color & cut done and this salon is so amazing Erin is amazing and I'm so happy that i found her. She is the only person ill ever trust with my hair. i lost her for a few months but I'm back and happy as ever. I LOVE her, I LOVE the new location, the salon is so professional and they even have a cafe if you get hungry ( amazing ) . Oh and valet parking in the back..... getting your hair done has never been so easy.

Well worth the experience

3 years ago, I walked in requesting a beard trim, because of reservations I had at the Ivy. It was not a service they offered...but they spoke with their manager (who I'd learned was the wife of Umberto himself) who personally came over and accomodated the request. She then escorted me to a hair stylist who trimmed my beard at NO cost- I gave him a $50 tip and since then I am devoutly loyal to Umberto products- I love the Deep Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner (with sunflower extract), Hair Shimmer and own three of their hair brushes. I frequently buy their travel pack too- as I travel often. The salon experience was the best ever and completely unexpected in a location where pompous behavior tends to be the characteristic of choice.
