home of the djs

by brookeyp

This place is like a home for all the djs to come and kick it, and of course spin some of the best music. The decor kind of reminds me of a gorgeous haunted house (if that makes any sense). There are a lot of live performances from music artists at the avalon. Lady gaga recently performed here. If you love to dance, check this place out.

I am tied in with all the top notch hollywood events (ex. H.wood, The Kress, The Playboy Mansion, ETC.). I can get you on the guest list for Avalon or refer you to the best venue on any given night. for guestlist consideration to your desired venue, contact me by sending me your facebook link and number of your party to: brookeytp@gmail com

  • Pros: really spaceous and great place to dance
  • Cons: sometimes there is cover

Good times on Friday.

by HonestReview12

Last 3 friday nights we've been heading out to Avalon and throwing our own parties at the VIP area above the main dance floor. Very spacey and large venue, good crowd and DJ's.. DJ Mr.White usually spins and he never ceases to amaze. Service is very good, the bottle girls are nice, usually dont have a problem at the door. I dislike the fact they have nights where its 18+. Aside that the bouncers are a bit too strict on some things, clearly wanting to be tipped. But overall we have a great time everytime we attend. I would recommend this place if you're a fan of house/electro. Oh and most important THEY HAVE STOLI ELITE..Rare to find a nightclub that has that vodka on their menu.

  • Pros: Music, Crowd, Service, venue
  • Cons: Strict bouncers, 18+ nights

Hollywood art deco landmark and former Palace location has reopened as a trendy megaclub.

by Contributor

In Short
First opened in 1927, this classic Hollywood venue has played host to everything from Judy Garland television specials to Beastie Boys concerts. Extensive renovations and posh additions have brought the art deco landmark into the 21st century--think minimalist, modern decor; an outdoor smoking lounge with its own bar; an entirely new upper lounge built over the existing balcony; reserved seating; and a private club-within-a-club called the Spider. The impresarios behind the venture are a pair of ex-East Coasters with a string of successes, including the Limelight and Tunnel in New York, and Axis and Embassy in Boston.

The right place for the right moment.

by obscuregirl

The trick with Avalon is that is a very special kind of club. It sometimes requires some planning. If you don't know anything about it, you will be disappointed (as some of the previous reviews have so eloquently pointed out). If you watch the calendar, you will be rewarded with some of the best techno on the planet. Where else can you catch Ferry Corsten, Infected Mushroom or Donald Glaude doing their thing? Yes, 99.9% of the crowd is usually f-ed up on something... but that IS the point. Whether you are heading over to to be part of the scene or retreat to the upper decks to people watch, Avalon has something for every kind of nightlife hedonist. Don't be so quick to write off the club because the cover is expensive or the lines are long. There's a reason people come back... again and again and again.

  • Pros: A unique LA destination and the perfect place to people watch or get silly.
  • Cons: The influx of post-clubbing groups of Armenians around 4am can be a little off-putting as they prowl the club.

YUCK.

by babyboozles

As far as nightclubs go, Avalon seems like a joke to me. The long lines out front are decieving: this place is anything but glamorous. The staff is rude, the cover is typically pretty high, drinks are expensive. The smoking patio is an alley that smells like urine and smoke and the dance floor is small. The bathroom lines take forever, only to be hasseled by agressive bathroom attendants. Plus the crowd is kind of nasty: everyone is f&%*d up on something, older or some gross but perhaps mildly amusing combination of the two. I do not know why so many people put up with this place every week. I have given the Avalon several chances and have left disappointed each time. I suggest Circus if you are looking for electronica music.

  • Pros: You can find free street parking if you know where to go
  • Cons: Rude staff, no atmosphere, lame crowd, small dancefloor just to name a few

Good music, good club, ugly people

by nrabinov

I mean, It costs around 25 bucks to get in, the music is good, the club is a nice location and space, and the people are old (40s) and ugly. I have a good time but its not anything amazing. There is an upstairs room that is much better then the main dance floor.

  • Pros: The club & music
  • Cons: The people!

Spacious and Flirtatious

by hendonesia

Upon entering you are greeted by several bars, one to your right, one in the back left, and some upstairs (if you can get in). The dance floor is huge and there is plenty of room for everyone to scat the night away. The decor was pretty nice, the upper deck contains auditorium-like seating for all the perverts to lurk and spy on people down below. The outside smoking lounge is reminiscent of a creepy european alley but far removed from the loud sounds of the pumping music inside, good place to chat it up with that lucky someone! All in all The Avalon is a cool place. The music was great, the crowd was dancing, and the service was par. Come here if you wana have a few drinks and let loose on the dance floor. Can't dance? That's ok, you can be a creep and sit up above the dance floor and watch everyone else shake their groove thing!

  • Pros: Huge dance floor, mellow vibes, good music
  • Cons: The lurk-a-torium above the dance floor
