THEY KICKED ME OUT BECAUSE SOMEONE PUNCHED ME IN THE FACE!!!
by HOUSEofBluesAIDSCriminals at Citysearch
An intoxicated chick PUNCHED me in the face with her fist, and when I complained, they KICKED ME OUT. Even worse, they let the assailant stay inside. They are SEXIST, PREJUDICED, GUILTY OF OBSTRUCTING JUSTICE and ACCOMPLICES TO CRIMINAL ASSAULT AND BATTERY. NEVER STEP FOOT ONTO THEIR PREMISES IF YOU VALUE YOUR RIGHTS AS A PERSON, PATRON, AND A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR WHAT THEY'VE DONE. PLUS, THEIR
- Pros: Great place to go if you don't value your basic human rights
- Cons: They support Assault + Battery criminals & punish victims

I am always excited to get "Two for Tuesday" concert tickets from HOB online because it means that I will be having the Voodoo Shrimp LOL
I enjoy the food at the restaurant at House of Blues but I only come here if I am attending a concert. The service is always very friendly and mindful of you getting out and downstairs on time for the event. Parking is a problem though my suggestion if you are coming for a show is to park at the lot on the corner of La Cienega and walk down to the HOB because when the concert is over you will have apprx. 45 minutes to wait for your vehicle to come up in Valet that's if you aren't at the back of the venue when the concert ends and if you are like me... you have had your butt FRONT AND CENTER to the stage :)
Now about this Voodoo shrimp it comes with Rosemary Cornbread and a really good cream based sauce and they give (or at least have been in the past) plenty of shrimp. I have went several times with other people who got something different and everyone has been pleased with their selections.
There is always a restroom attendant that expects to be tipped (this is LA) so be aware before you go tinkle :)

Good Food, Good Vibe

Restuarant - Read other reviews that knocked the food as mediocre and over priced. We ordered Flat Iron Steak Salad $13.95, Creole Shrimp on a bed of catfish and rice $16.95, and the Rib Eye $25.95 All really good and those prices didn't seem that bad. Beers were $6. Not cheap, but I've seen worse.
Perhaps HOB read some of the reviews because two other critiques were stories about cameras being banned and the problems that caused and not being able to utilize the Pass the Line benefit.
In regards to the camera issue, as soon as our driver stepped out of the car he was asked if he had a camera by the valet. A nice heads up. Don't take a camera. Cellphone with cameras are ok.. (Valet is $15, but saves the headache of searching for parking somewhere else. I heard it takes 30 minutes to clear out the cars. - We took a walk down the strip and came back to no wait. So be warned.)
As for the Pass the Line issue. Our host asked us if we had tickets to the show and told us to make sure our waiter signed the receipt. Then the first thing our waiter asked was if we had tickets and ensured we knew how to use the benefit.
(Pass the Line: If you eat dinner in the restuarant and have tickets to the show, you get to bypass the main general admission line, or after the doors open, you can go in the back way.)
The show - It was loud. But not abnormally so. We stood along the rail at the back bar for a portion of the show. Good view of the stage. Although there are pillars between the back bar and main floor, so if you're on the side and refuse to move, it's your own fault. We worked our way to the dance floor for the second and main band. No problem with views here.
Bar was efficient. A mixed drink with Grand Marinier was $11.50. Not cheap.
Atmosphere was very casual. Over 60% of the guys were in t-shirts. When I read HOB was all ages, I was still surprised to see a couple kids around 10 years old and quite a few high schoolers.
- Pros: Ambience, Food, Location
- Cons: $15 Parking, All Ages Venue

Sweeeeet Happy Hour
by AngelenoFoodie at Citysearch
Check out the review of this and many other happy hours at: happiest hours(dot)blog spot(dot)com - no spaces between words, but City Search won't allow it any other way. That is the best bargain we've seen to date in the HH quest. The apps are also cheap, but there are only five to choose from - fried artichoke hearts (OMG - so good!), fried catfish nuggets with sweet potato fries (yummy!), spinach and artichoke dip (not sampled), veggie or chicken quesadilla (not on this trip) and calamari tossed with olives and herbs (and - surprise! - it was fried!) I liked the calamari, but I do wish the menu had said it was also going to be breaded and fried. Still, it was good and had a nice Mediterranean zing. Portions were huge - nothing was finished between the two of us.
Great venue, but not cheap
by kiercemartin at Citysearch
As long as you're willing to spend some cash on drinks and parking then you'll do fine. The venue is really great and there's truly not a bad view in the house, but parking is a little tricky. I've had friends get towed trying to squeeze into street parking and I've also driven around forever looking for free parking. The truth is if you can muster the 15 for valet, it's probably not a bad idea. Otherwise as long as it's a good show, you won't have any complaints.
Fun concert venue
by ucla2006 at Citysearch
Came here with a group of friends to see a concert and it was a great night. This is a great place to see live music because you are basically right up against the stage when you are out on the main floor and the atmosphere and crowd make it alot of fun. Be ready to spend some cash on drinks and parking and you will have a great time. I would definitely go back and recommend anyone to come here for concerts.
- Pros: Intimate venue for music
- Cons: Food, parking
I'll never go back.Not ever

I don't even know where to start.I guess from the moment we got there. My husband and I went to see a concert. We had never been there before,so we followed other cars into what we thought was general parking but soon learned it was valet. They were very rude, rushed us out of the car then demanded $15.Then,when we went through security we were told no cameras at this venue. They told us to take it to our car.We went to ask the valet where the car was parked so we could put the camera away and they said"cars are parked 1 mile away. You can't get to them. You can check your camera in for $5."What a rip off.So then we had to back through the rudest security ever into the the bar area.We got a few drinks, which were not cheap and not filled to the top.My husband did not tip the bartender, but his friend did.She then told my husbands friend"you'r cool."Then said to my husband "you'r an asshole."Can you belive that shit.Later that night I was escorted out for standing too close to the light man.noone ever asked me to move, just escorted out. They told my husbad that he could go back in,but I could not.I did get loud and throw a little fit but I really didn't understand what I had done that was soo wrong.I meen there where people smoking marajuana in there.Throw them out.Anyways becaues I was loud and arguing with them, we both had to leave.I'll never ever go there again.
nice venue for live music
by famousblueraincoat at Citysearch
overall, i really like this venue. i do wish there were seated options b/c if you're not 6 foot tall or willing to get there the minute the doors open, then it's really hard to see the stage. but it's clean, safe and gets big name acts to its relatively small venue. security is always nice. full bar. restaurant for pretty good club food if you get hungry. good vibes.
- Pros: big name acts
- Cons: can't see stage if you are short
