Worst Place Ever Visited
by zerostar83 at Citysearch
The place is a death trap. No air circulation leaves the places at least 30 degrees hotter than outside. I'm not sure if it was the band or the place, but the sound guy(s) weren't doing their job right. If you want sweat to drip from places it never has before, go there. The entrance requires you to go down one hallway, then back the other direction in another hallway, then back up again to the floor. Don't suffocate by going there!
- Pros: The bartenders make a good Adios
- Cons: Everything else!
THE WORST ESTABLISHMENT IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND (PLEASE READ)
by AMMPENTERTAINMENT at Citysearch
I HAVE PRODUCED OVER 1000 EVENTS, HAVE BEEN TO HUNDREDS OF VENUES IN OVER A DOZEN COUNTRIES AND I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT THIS IS THE WORST VENUE IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND. IF I MUST EXPLAIN MYSELF THEN I WILL TELL YOU THAT THE BARTENDERS SHOULD BE BARBACKS AND HAVE NO BUSINESS TALKING TO CUSTOMERS, THE MANAGERS SHOULD BE SECURITY GUARDS OR BATHROOM ATTENDANTS, THE SOUND GUYS ARE 3/4 DEAF AND ARE RUDE, THE IN HOUSE BOOKING IS A JOKE, THE BOX OFFICE IS INCOMPETENT AND IN GENERAL THE STAFFS' OVERALL ATTITUDE HAS TO BE THE WORST I HAVE EVER SEEN. COLLECTIVELY THEY AMOUNT TO A PIECE OF GARBAGE THAT DESERVES TO BE RECOGNIZED AS NOT EVEN REACHING THE BARREL'S BOTTOM. THEY SIT UNDERNEATH THE BOTTOM OF THE BARREL. I GIVE THIS VENUE NEGATIVE 5 STARS AND I HAVE REACHED 5STAR DIAMOND STATUS IN MY CAREER SO DONT BOTHER WASTING YOUR TIME OR MONEY GOING THERE. YOU'RE WELCOME.

Overrated
by josho33 at Citysearch
After reading the multitude of reviews describing the virtues of this place, I decided to take my fiancee there for a show. Needless to say, I was disappointed. The musical group was ok, but the main room was nothing special. The area was cold, not inviting, and left much to be desired. The bar was adequate, and I had to visit several times just to get through everything. Make sure you ask around before visiting this place!
- Pros: Good bar, Decent acts, Fun location
- Cons: Cold, Poor acoustics, Boring
A Great Venue For Mid-Level Artists
by tychovski at Citysearch
The Knitting Factory is one of the few places I actualy enjoy patronizing for live music. There is a huge and fully stocked bar in the lounge area, with counters, tables and couches to unwind on. Parking is no problem as there are garages present with validation. As far as a music venue is concerned, it's a wonderful setup. Two seperate stages are present for different styles of presentation. The larger is intimate enough to insure a good time for all who want to see the band, and small enough so that you never feel overwhelmed in the crowd. The smaller is perfect for cocktail style performers wishing to interract with the audience. The ticket prices have always been reasonable, and the drink prices are reasonable enough for Los Angeles.
- Pros: Inexpensive, Good Parking, Great Ambiance
Not Fan Friendly
by djfiber at Citysearch
My experience there was horrible. The woman at the ticket booth was extremely rude right from the beginning. She wasn't receptive at all and as we all know the first impression is the most important impression. Inside I wasn't treated much better getting thrown out for not having a photo pass...I WAS FILMING FOR THE BAND. Well, I guess they didn't care who I was filming for. I say pay half the price for the same quality show in a Santa Monica or a Los Feliz venue and get a much more fan friendly environment.
- Pros: Cool Stage Area
- Cons: Rude Staff, Overpriced
High-tech accoutrements and avant-garde performers make this Hollywood's most cutting-edge music club.

The Scene
Having already conquered New York and Berlin, the Knitting Factory brought its unique and surprisingly tasteful take on nightlife to the City of Angels. The Factory has two platforms: the Main Stage hosts popular acts and artists with name recognition, while the AlterKnit Lounge features hardworking bands with cult followings and a more underground appeal. Selected shows are even broadcast over the Internet to viewers of the club's official website.
The Draw
Past performances have included boy wonder Beck headlining a benefit concert for local violinist Petra Haden--with the help of Tenacious D and member of the Go-Go's--while Diamanda Galas drew a more somber audience for her cathartic stint. Visiting Brits like singer-songwriter PJ Harvey and knit cap-clad Badly Drawn Boy gave Anglophiles more to shout about. Other past performers have included Weezer, DJ Shadow and Sigur Ros. Clichéd as it may sound, this club really does have something for everyone.
A Bad Venue
by jpcrosland at Citysearch
If you must see a band there, be aware that they will go on no less then 3 hours after the time stated on the website or the ticket. You can not call to verify showtimes because the phone will never be answered. The staff is pretty unfriendly and it can get extremely hot, crowded, and uncomfortable. If you have the option of seeing the same music at another venue at another time, choose that option.
Urban Chic, mmkay?

Awesome place to chill in your favorite herban gear. Trendy, hip, fun, low key... at least go to people watch. Cool staff, cool music, cool crowd.
- Pros: Atmosphere, Service, Chill Crowd
- Cons: Layout
Eclectic Mix
by msb1021 at Citysearch
Good venue. They have a main stage and a smaller, intimate cabaret/lounge stage. The food is good, but pricey. They have a wide range of acts perform there (ie. Birthday Suit and Jill Sobule, to name but two). Tickets are reasonably priced. I don't think I've ever paid more that $12 for a show there.
