I will never go back
by disappointedbybadservice
I've been hearing about this place for a while and was excited to finally end up there for a show. 20 minutes later I was outside saying "I will never go back in there". The bartender was rude and unprofessional. The sad part is I work in a bar and have for ages. When I am disgusted you have to screw up pretty thoroughly. Oh and they allow smoking inside. Gross. Never again.
- Pros: cheap
- Cons: Terrible service, rude waitstaff, smoking inside bar
Great venue

I've seen many shows here and have loved every one. The closeness of the band to the audience and the sound were very good. I also really enjoy the varied artists they have. This is my favorite place in LA to see a show. It's small, and personal with the artists walking around afterwards. If you ever get an opportunity to get to a show here, you must go.
Silver Lake's premier club to catch buzz bands before they get huge.
by Kim Cooper
A club with an adventurous booking policy that often features critical darlings yet to hit the big time. If you can stand the blue air, step up to the lounge, where there's a bar, pool tables, old-school video games and an amusing low-budget NASA decorating scheme. The only problem back there is when the jukebox is on during live sets--nothing like mistaking the onstage band for the next big thing, only to realize it's a muffled Velvet Underground demo. Musicians, writers, artists and others with odd haircuts meet to mingle and check out everything from experimental noise ensembles to rising alt-rock stars. It's a well-documented fact that Beck played many early shows here. Other indie heroes and buzz-worthy bands to swing by in the past couple years include Imperial Teen and the Black Keys.
my favorite live venue

i've seen so many good bands here, including a few that are arguably too popular for a venue this size...huge mugs of Red Hook...$10 cover? you can't go wrong
- Pros: cheap
- Cons: can get too packed
Budget Rockin

Forget the hack, tired strip if you're looking for new, interesting and edgy sounds. Silverlake is the place and Spaceland is the finest in the hood. With an adventerous booking policy and the oh-so-cool Free Monday "artist in residence" program, not to mention the smoking room upstairs, this is THE place in LA, east or west, to see toonage.
Rawk On!
- Pros: great bands, free Mundays, smoking room
Best L.A. hipster scene
by jpcrosland
This is one of the few clubs in Los Angeles that has good live original music on a regular basis, rather then the pay to play clubs that line Sunset and surrounding areas
