Hidden Treasure

The Greystone Mansion is one of the most beautiful places in Los Angeles. Once you are there in the gardens you don't even hear or remember the traffic that you just sat in to get here. This place is so serene and a perfect setting for a wedding or if you are just looking for a quite get away for a few hours, it is magnificent!
One of the best places to see in the Los Angeles area

I?ve been living in L.A for 5 years before I even heard of this place and the loss was all mine. Now I just have to take ever out-of-town visitor I have there, and I never get bored going back there. Greystone mansion was build in 1926 by the Doheny oil family, and after having different ownerships over the years was finally bought by the city of Beverly Hills as a city park. You can park your car in the public parking lot and just walk through the gardens freely. The gardens are full of green lawns and beautiful flowers, well groomed bushes and even a coy pond. There are certain areas, like a long grassy path with shrubbery to the side, or the big fountain, that make me feel I?m in an old Hollywood or a Disney Fairytale movie. In the four times I visited so far, there was almost always something going on there, in two of those times they were shooting a tv show inside, on time it was a movie (these we shot inside the house so it didn?t bother us), the last time they held a wedding at the gardens so they blocked off some of the areas, and that was a little disappointing.
You can only walk in the garden area, not get inside the mansion itself, but no one will stop you if you want to push your nose to the glass windows and take a peek inside, as it is just as lovely inside as it is outside. I promise you, after your fist visit you are going to recognize areas of the place of the interior in so many major films and TV shoes and ads.

- Pros: A real-life gorgeous mansion
- Cons: some areas are blocked off occasionally
Great way to spend an afternoon!

Had a lot fun hanging around with the turtles & fish! The grounds are a wonderful sight to take in and I can't wait to go back in November to see inside the house (aside from the sneek-peeks we took into the windows). Make sure to take your time enjoying each garden and courtyard.
Beautiful grounds, maybe not the best park

Greystone is definitely a hidden treasure in Beverly Hills a quite place with great views of the city, but if you're looking for a park to just sit and read, or throw a frisbee or something, this definitely isn't the place. A good place to go walk around for sure. The gardens and everything else are beautiful, just not a lot of open ground to sit and eat, other than the lawn out front, which just feels kind of random. Definitely worth checking out, it will make you feel like you're in Europe or something, just don't go expecting a park.
Absolute best of Beverly hills!

Greystone park defines hiddden gem, perhaps BH's best secret! I discovered it three years ago and it's my must see place when i;m in beverly hills. stop by Joan's on third and bring a picnic to eat in your favorite spot on the property, mine is the italian cypress-lined path surrounded ny fountains that was featured in a Mariah Carrey video as well as an episode of entourage with anna ferris! I more than reccomend this place to anyone who wants to relax in the most beautiful setting In Beverly Hills tucked away on Doheny Avenue minutes from the famous sunset strip!!!
- Pros: Beautiful! Clean! Magical! Tons of parking!
- Cons: Hard to find, (but not a problem)
Beverly Hills' largest home has lush gardens, lovely grounds and an intriguing history.

Oil baron Edward Doheny gave the property to his son Ned as a wedding gift. In 1928, Ned constructed an enormous, 55-room Tudor-style mansion. Six months after Ned's family moved in, Ned was shot by his demented personal secretary (and, rumor has it, gay lover) in a murder-suicide. Ned's widow and children stayed on until the '50s, then gave the property to the city of Beverly Hills. While the house is closed to visitors, the grounds are gorgeous. French terraced gardens offer gracious vistas. A pond teems with water lilies and turtles. And you can always gaze on the mansion itself--a surreal home flanked by a half-ruined garage and an abandoned greenhouse. Lovely grounds, picturesque ruins and an intriguing main house make for an appealing destination.

Greystone is an amazing site to see. One of the finest mansions in Beverly Hills and it is now a free city park. They are currently refurbishing the entire house, but it is still worth checking out - the grounds are enormous and the architecture is grand.
