dangerous
by LAexpectations at Citysearch
My friend and I visited the bar May 13. In addition, an individual named Thomas, who claimed to be the general manager of a nearby bar, was present with a girlfriend. That girlfriend provoked and attacked us in front of several witnesses. She had approached us several times
throughout the night to initiate a fight, under the false belief that we were taking secret photographs of Thomas. When it became clear we did not want any trouble and ignored her verbal attacks, she threw at
least one drink across the bar, which landed on several people on the dance floor including us. She then stomped over to my friend, where she was dancing on the dance floor, and grabbed her hair and began to throw punches. Her attack was quickly thwarted by several patrons; however, none of the Beauty Bar's staff came to help, nor did any of the bartenders alert management. Finally, Beauty Bar's manager, Bree Blumstein, came out of the back room upon my friend's
request. She was aware of the earlier provocations but had felt the woman's threats would remain verbal. She questioned several people, and when it became clear that the female was at fault, Ms. Blumstein lied to us and told us that Beauty Bar and the nearby bar were
"sister bars," and therefore, she could not reprimand the woman, since she was in the company of the nearby bar's general manager.
Ms. Blumstein had our drinks paid for and gave us her card as a token of goodwill but asked us to leave. We walked to the nearby bar to file a complaint and were informed that the two bars have no formal association. When we explained the situation to the doorman and
bartender (while waiting for the on duty manager to come out), both men groaned and said, "He's dating her again?!" She clearly does not have a good reputation.
Beauty Bar completely failed to address this dangerous situation. This woman should have been removed from the bar after it became clear that she was repeatedly verbally harassing us without provocation. Instead, this woman was allowed to remain in the bar and physically assault us. I'm assuming that the nearby bar's manager is a frequent patron, and therefore, the staff decided to turn a blind eye.
- Cons: paranoid, psychotic patrons & apathetic managers
-LOVE the music-

I usually like to come here on Friday and Saturday nights. It can be a h1t or miss (music wise), but most of the time it's amazing. This place offers a variety of genres for your dancing and listening pleasure! The crowd is alright at times, but on occasion you'll get that encounter with the crazy drunk guy or girl of the night. You wait a while of course just to get some service at the bar. The only con I can find is that it's tinyyyy. ESPECIALLY on busy nights it's not always the most comfy spot. So ladies think twice about those open toe shoes since you're most likely to get stepped on and get a cute lil bruise on your foot the next day. Least that's what happened to my friend, haha!
- Pros: Music
- Cons: Small place

Cool place for starting a Hollywood night. Good place for hosting an event. Small but cool.
Parking structure right across the street is a benefit.
- Pros: good for hosting event
- Cons: small
Travel back in time to the swingin' '60s for martinis, manicures and DJs spinning dance tracks inside this vintage salon.

In Short
Double doors lead a steady stream of club-goers inside and onto the checkered dance floor of this 1960s beauty parlor, where henna tattoos and manicures are the only pampering services offered. Beers and cocktails flow at the bar while a friendly and unpretentious crowd lounges around hair dryer chairs, antique salon mirrors, a photo booth, jukebox and plastic-covered sofa. Resident DJs enter at 10pm and play '80s hits, rock-and-roll and pop grooves the rest of the night for a vibe that's gritty, yet accessible and cute.
An Instant Classic!

I went on a Thursday night, and had a great time. I didn't even know it was an actual salon until reading these other reviews! It just seemed like a cool bar with a funky theme to me. Maybe I was there too late at night to get a manicure. Fun times, though. Really good music, nice people. Cute bartender.
- Pros: Awesome music, fun theme.
- Cons: Had to park really, really, really far away.
Too trendy....

- Pros: I dont have to go very often
- Cons: The trendy crowd is a lil irritating.....

Girls Night Out!

This is such a great place to get a simple manicure and a martini for 10 bucks! Not the greatest of either, but the combination of the two is great. Nail polish smell is intense but goes away. So much fun for a change of scenery with the girls.
Sister to Star Shoes so how it be bad?
by laylacitygal at Citysearch
Just the best vibin' place. Music is great and the value and for a drink and beauty treatment is cheap, cheap, cheap (in price only). Spend most of our time in Star Shoes with out of town clients but always make time to stop here, too. Owners are great. They also own Star Shoes which is awesome.....Manager could sober up a bit but then I guess clubs are meant to drink in. Hennas are great and some clients have been to the ones in S.F & NY and much prefer this one. So, I was a popular host....
- Pros: music, inexpensive, great hennas
- Cons: none too much, manager?????
