Exploring global traditions where scholarly fun prevails.

In Short
Tucked away on the UCLA campus, the galleries are quiet and intimate. While many ethnographic museums can seem a bit dry, these topical exhibitions, along with the knowledgeable staff, provide a rich look into unique cultural customs from around the world. A deceptively small exterior hides one of the country's largest collections of African artifacts. Thousands of objects offer a glimpse into the religious and social experience of tribal living. The museum also presents touring exhibitions, including rare finds from Africa, Asia, Oceania and the Americas.
I heart the Fowler
by justinehere
The Fowler Museum makes me even happier to be at UCLA everyday. I work on campus, and I really look forward to my lunch break visits there. The museum boasts an impressive, and gorgeously presented, collection of cultural artifacts from Asia, Africa, the Pacific, and the Americas. I just saw the "Art of Being Tuareg" exhibit featuring truly amazing art and everyday pieces from the Tuareg Saharan nomads.
Who Knew?

Who knew there was an extensive museum with cultural artifacts hidden away in this quiet UCLA building? Depending on the exhibits, which can be quite interesting, you can learn quite a lot about other cultures.
