Chinese theatre is a good large theater, however it lacks in cofort seating. The seats, although they have recently been replace, are to low and bumpy.
The screen is great and the sound is great.
- Pros: good parking
- Cons: expensive
Really is a very cool theater
by victorypix at Citysearch
There are a lot of places in Hollywood that are kind of a let down when you visit them, but the Chinese theater is actually really cool. Just make sure when you go there, you're going to a movie in the main theater - the big one - because there are a lot little theaters in the same complex, and you might think your tickets are to the movie in the big theater when they're actually for a little one. The little theaters aren't bad - they're just regular theaters and not nearly the same as the big main one.
A Must-See tourist destinations

The Chinese Theatre is Hollywoood History. The fun outside is great to fill time before the movie. Inside, you'll find old Hollywood majesty. Concessions are generally pretty fast. Seating is amazing...take some time before the movie to sit and take it all in. If you can catch an opening expect a raucous crowd. I'd highly recommend you make some time for a movie here if you're from out of town.
- Pros: Digitial picture
Old School Theaters Leave You Looking At The Back of Someone's Head The Entire Movie!!!
by ladolcevita1 at Citysearch
We saw American Gangster at this theater the first weekend it opened. Century City, The Bridge and The Grove were sold out. I've lived in LA 5 years and thought why not? It's a beautiful theater and definitely worth seeing on maybe a Hollywood tour but for seeing a movie, what a nightmare. You'll spend 5 minutes admiring the decor and then when the movie started, my 6'2 boyfriend could not see the screen clearly over a woman in front of us who was not that tall or large. I totally have taken stadium seating for granted. I had to move because I couldn't see past her husband's head. To make matters worse it was a 2 hour 40 minute movie. We were both really annoyed and it really took away from our movie experience. I will never go to that theater again. Although, it's a beautiful theater it's just no where near up to the movie-going experience and comfortable viewing of stadium theaters.
- Pros: beautiful theater
- Cons: you can't see over the person's head in front of you, can't see, can't see, can't see!!!
I saw a movie here.

I saw Titanic at this particular movie theater back in 19-bum, bum, bum....It was Christmas Day, if I recall correctly and I was tempted to go right back in and watch it a second time...It's classic Hollywood.
Films and footprints leave their mark at Hollywood's most famous theater.

Sid Grauman's legendary theater began screening blockbusters in 1927. Architects Meyer and Holler produced a confection of Chinese fantasy, replete with dragons, temple dogs and soaring roofs. The renowned cement courtyard bears celebrity footprints and accompanying inscriptions. The courtyard brims with a bustling crowd of visitors anxious to slip their hands and feet into the imprints of their favorite bygone stars. Few ever reach the lobby, where you can enjoy the atmosphere in a less hectic setting. The main theater is still a great place to see a movie, and the side theaters are adequate. When your eyes adjust to the hall's velvety darkness, you'll spy a fascinating blend of paintings and fixtures that lend the room an air of Eastern mystery.
Best Theatre in LA

Grauman's is totally unique. The atmosphere is outstanding with all the history and fame out front. You can kill hours outside just looking and gawking and then you go inside and it's just as spectacular! The facade is really cool and the whole look of the theatre makes movie watching there an experience. The sound and visual quality are tops and the employees are kind and courteous. The only drawback is that they book one film at a time, but you can still go right next door to the Mann's 6 for a wider selection. And that theatre is also very good!
- Pros: Atmosphere/History, Technical Quality, Experience
- Cons: Selection
Colors strange
by rebsfoley at Citysearch
The Chinese Theatre, under whatever name it's under (Mann's, Grauman's, etc...), is always something great to show to out of town visitors, and with the Hollywood and Vine mall next door, it's doubly exciting. However, they repainted the theatre, and now instead of the vibrant red, it's this strange orange/red color with a dull gray surrounding it. It might match the mall better, but it still takes away from the theatre.
Fortunately, must visitors don't know about the brillance of the former red, so only natives will be unhappy with the "improvement".
- Pros: exciting, historical, eventful
- Cons: expensive, bad parking, crowded
The ultimate movie theater experience
by KramSacul at Citysearch
Without question the most famous theater in the world and it's just been recently refurbished with a bigger, better screen and an intense JBL sound system. See a big movie here on opening weekend and you won't go back to seeing a movie in a shoebox.
- Pros: Beautiful building, Excellent projection, Awesome sound
- Cons: New reclining seats

If you haven't been to the Chinese Theater, you really haven't experienced the ultimate movie going experience. This is the best theater on the planet with the biggest screen and the best sound system imaginable.
