I went the first time for my friend's birthday party on a Saturday. I didn't really enjoy the place much because it was really crowded, and the drinks were expensive (but usual for LA.) I went a few weeks later on a Friday night with a date, and it was a lot less busy. We sat in the restaurant area, and I liked the martinis. They are amazing. I thought that the atmosphere was also really nice for the date. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place for big crowds, but if you just want a chill place to talk and have a fun variety of drink choices, try this bar.

Pros: Martinis, date place

Cons: Not the best place for large groups

I liked it a lot. especially the fish and chips which is the best (not traditional) I have ever had. I have stay away due to the ever increasing darkness that has enveloped the space. But I see that things are looking right clear again now that a few reviewers are not going back. :) Maybe I'll try it again!!!

Pros: very good

Cons: too many south of Wilshire types

I am disgusted with this place. First i went there with my girlfriend to have some martinis with some friends. I was met at the door by some man with curly hair, who told me that they were only doing reservations or guest list. The only problem being that i had a group of friends that walked in 10 min. before i arrived. When walking to my car my girlfriend told me that he walked to the bouncer and said dress code violation repeatedly. I was wearing a casual sweater and 400$ non baggy nor holey jeans. After driving around the corner i decided to see what my friends were wearing one wearing a hat, jeans, and converse and was let inside. Then went back and confronted said person and he said they must have sliped by him. When all of my white friends just so happen to come outside to see what the problem was he procceded to let me and my girlfriend in. Now if that is not wierd then my cousin actually had the same incedent, where there just happened to be a group of people who were not on a list but were given the ability to walk straight in. MInd you both nights the bar was empty. My cousin going there at 12:30 if there are people on a guest list they prob are not showing up. This news is prob not new to a lot of minorities being how there was a report on them for the very same thing. If you are a minority please take your business elsewhere.

Cons: I think my story speaks for itself

Definitely not a place to go to if you are wanting to meet people. Went on a Saturday night and it appeared to be mainly for those who are on a date or are keeping to themselves in their own little group. No mingling. I had the Strawberry Fields Martini...the first one was terrific but the second one tasted of only juice. My boyfriend had a Manhattan and again...first one was perfect but the second needed to be sent back. So not much consistency. More of a place to go before you go out for the night.

Pros: Service, first drink

Cons: Second drink, crowd

First of all, anyone coming to this website for solid feedback about this establishment: please read all of the 1,2, and 3 star reviews for this restaurant. Do you find it strange that after every negative review there were 1 to 3 reviews voting it 5 stars? And the only real good thing those reviews had to say in its favor is that it was a good martini, good selection? And that there needs to be 88+ reviews for a 2-3 star (supposedly) restaurant? Compliments of the management or staff I'm sure. Just don't come here. My friends and I went here on Saturday night 6/14. First of all we were stopped at the door by some sort of bouncer (guy in a monkey suit). He asks us if we have reservations. We explained our friends were inside and we believed already had a table. He told us to wait. We were waiting their 4 minutes. During this time we got to scope the place from the window: Not at all full, no event banner posted, no celebrities, what's the deal? The guy finally comes back and tells my friend who was wearing a baseball cap that "Sorry, we don't allow hats on the inside" (however later on inside we saw 4 people wearing hats, though we heard later there was a shooting there so that might be why. Scared of that!) He leaves again and comes back and says "My manager says you can come in but wait here one more minute", basically treating us like common street trash. IT' ONLY A RESTAURANT. More waiting then: OooOO. He let's us in: We made it past the door man. WHATEVER! (eye roll) They put us in the sh!ta$$ pool room which was fine because we had 5 in our party and the table was big enough. The service was good but sporadic. I want our waitress to work somewhere else because she was very nice. Our friends $21.50 pasta special was 100% bland. After I put down $100 of our baseball cap wearing, "g@ng related", undeserved money we called it quits. When we left we informed the doorman of other people wearing hats inside; he responed with a verbal threat. Don't bother.

Pros: Best Chicken Marsala I can remember

Cons: Wicked LA attitude and unacceptable doorman

to the fakers that wants to hide behind fake names..if you were really that bold managment you wold stop hiding behind fake names.I found that hard to believe that everytime there is a negative comment there is always someone trying to defend it. Like who goes on the rating reviews just to see if someone wrote things about lols umm people with no life, who sould be worried about why there are so many negative ratings on your restaurant instead of talking mess. Lolas is not a good spot and second if the waitress said she was looking for managment for three hours what makes you think someone could find that person also. If managment feels someone dosent leave a big enough tip i would advise them to stopp being so cheap and pay there waiters more money that way they dont have to hope that someone pays well to get ther rent paid. Tips goes off service when the service is cheap and the food nasty what makes you think a person is going to tip well. I advise you to step your game up as a business and then maybe you wont have this problem, your spot is not the biz and everyone is aware of how you treat people. I think its tacky and unclassy to approach someone about not leaving a big enough tip. Also i think its tacky to act like ur a customers just to write an review, take the responsiblity as a business man and get on your bar..Because your just an manager ha not the owner good luck on stopping people from comming back. As far as i know i never have this prob at lawrys and i tip good cause they give me good service. Next time dont fake the reviews MANAGER

I have been coming to Lola's for years. I love the relaxed atmosphere - especially in the cocktail lounge. The service is friendly and completely easygoing and casual which is what makes it such a wonderful neighborhood bar and a Hollywood staple for at least the past 12 years (not a lot of bars in LA can say THAT!). So, I just get DISGUSTED when I hear of people not tipping the staff. If there is TRULY a huge problem with the service you should let the management know immediately. It is important for any establishment to be kept informed so that they can continue to thrive and make improvements. That being said, if it comes to the point where a manager has to approach your table, you left an unacceptable tip. Perhaps you need a lesson in dining out - 15-18% is for your basic service (by all means leave more if your service was great!). If you leave between 10-15% tip you're telling the server they were pretty bad. Less than 10% should NEVER be left without expressing your dissatisfaction with the management. Claiming that "tipping is not mandatory" is just tacky and classless. If you don't want to tip, don't go out to eat (or eat at McDonald's as you say). Furthermore, if an establishment is asking you not to come back, it's probably not because you didn't tip - it's most likely because your reasons for not tipping are not reasonable (and perhaps, neither were you). If I were a restaurant I wouldn't want people like you coming back either.

Pros: Great Atmosphere, Friendly Servers, MARTINIS!

Went there on a thursday night with the girlies.. Service was awful waited for awhile until we got service. Once we got it the bus boy threw the napkins and forks on the table umm like where do they teach these ppl customer service at. Anyway after spending a very large amout of money there we all left our own seperate tips which we assumed was dependent on the level of service.. I was always told if service is not up to par, not to leave a good tip, but i left a good amount plus spent enough money in the spot so didnt think it was a big deal...After eating we went by the pool table and ended up leaving because of someones ashy butt cr--ck in my face ( I didn't come there to meet the plumber...so wtf??). We were aproached at the door by the manager... he stopped us and said we spent 160 bucks and didnt leave enough tip..He said that his waitresses do have rent to pay..I mean if thats the case why dont he pay them more money, im not obligated to leave a tip or pay anyone elses rent.. Especially if the serivce IS NOT THE BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he failed to realize that I too work and if I performed at that level, I would not only not get my bonus, I would probably be fired...HE TOLD US NOT TO COME BACK ANYMORE DUE TO THE FACT THAT WE DIDNT LEAVE ENOUGH TIP. AS A PATRON, I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE HEARD ANYONE SAY THAT.. I JUST FIND IT FUNNY BUT ITS OK THE LAST LAUGH WILL BE ON HIM.. LOLAS is OVERRATED, AND THEY HARASS U ASSUMING THAT YOU'RE TOO DRUNK TO NOTICE, SO IF U WANT GOOD SERVICE U MIGHT AS WELL GO TO MCDONALDS WHERE THE FOOD IS CHEAPER , TASTES BETTER, AND THEY HAVE BETTER SERVICE.....IMAGINE THAT....AND THEY MAKE MINIMUM WAGE...HMMMM

Pros: MARTINIS GET U SO DRUNK MANAGEMENT THINKS ITS OK TO INSULT U

Cons: CUSTOMER SERVICE, NO HOSTESS, THE NIGHT MANAGER, THE NOISE LEVEL

first and foremost I'd like to say to coco7777 (who I know is the ignorant manager at lola's that was totally rude to my friends and I ) I find it very interesting to find that every complaint about Lola's is given a rebuttal to bash the patron as damage control....word to the wise, in a business that serves customers who spend their money damage control done by insulting someone is never smart...how about apologizing or making things right for the next customer that chooses to dine in your establishment. Anyone reading this can view all of the restaurant responses to see exactly what I am saying. Secondly, tip at 10-15% is still based on performance, and the night we were there, the performance was not up to par. I work for salary and bonus, my bonus is dependent on my performance, if I don't meet expectations, I get little to nothing, as a patron of a restaurant, I can choose to follow the same rules. We dine out quite frequently and the service at Lola's has been the worse ever. I am a generous person and understand that wait staff need to make money, but I would never pay someone extra for bad service. If the manager would have taken the opportunity to listen to what went wrong in the 1st place, maybe he would have saw where we were coming from, but no...he made up his mind about what type of people we were at first sight (interesting) SIDE NOTE: WE WERE TOLD WE SHOULD HAVE INFORMED MANAGEMENT ABOUT THE SERVICE IMMEDIATELY, WELL HOW WERE WE SUPPOSED TO DO THAT WHEN THE WAITRESS TOLD US SHE HAD BEEN LOOKING FOR HER MANAGER FOR THE PAST 3 HOURS???! Did his waitress mention to him that the pasta dish ordered at the table had 2 bites taken out of it and when she asked if we wanted a box for the dish we stated no??? I guess not. A good waitress would have asked if something was wrong with the dish because it was barely touched, she didn't bother to ask. I could go on and on about the night, but I won't be wasting my breath or money at Lola's anymore.

Pros: excellent martinis

Cons: everything except the martinis

My girls and I have a monthly "girls night out". This month we decided that we would try the highly recomended Lola`s. I have heard so much about the Martinis and the Mac & Cheese. Okay lets talk about a little slice of heaven here!!! The Martinis were simply delicious...it took me at least 10 minutes to decide on the vast selection, I finally decided on the Clockwork Orange Martini/ a orange juice, vanilla vodka and cream concotion...mmmmm my mouth is just watering as I write this review...is it 5 o`clock yet?? This is the spot from now on for me and the girls! This month they were even are doing a "six in the city" (citysearch won`t let me use the word s*x??) happy hour...I mean can this place get any better!!!!! Unfortutly we got there to late for the happy hour, but I hope to make it back before the month is up.

Pros: Excellent Martinis, Comfertable Atmosphere, Warm Staff

Cons: Very Busy
