Racial Profiling
by Rookie
as a young kid I used to love coming out to the Observatory and the Griffith Park with family and friends as a parent, lately the park rangers have harassed and complicated things at the park with their racial profiling. Hispanics can't even spend a good time with families without a park ranger questioning them and straight out asking them to leave the park. I will never return to this place because of the racial profiling that goes on there with the park rangers.
- Pros: Great place for the American Family
- Cons: Bad place for Hispanic Community

In Short
Ride off into the sunset for margaritas and romance, or delight the kiddies with a pony ride. Have a picnic or barbecue amid oak trees and dancing shadows in Ferndell Canyon or pick up a few extra strokes on either of the two golf courses. Explore the Bronson Caves or take a leisurely ride on the merry-go-round. Coo at baby animals at the zoo or stroll through the aviary that sports as much shade as sparrows. Take time to explore these beautiful settings too often overlooked by locals. Who knew L.A. could be so natural?

The Sierra Club meets here every Tuesday and Thursday for Night Hikes. I can't recommend this enough. Since moving to the area, I've been coming here almost every week and love it! Summer's obviously better as it's lighter later at night, but there are five (rarely six) levels of hiking. It's very beautiful here and I've hiked all over the park, walked through it, picnicked, and even ridden horses through it. It's awesome.

I love Griffith - it was the first place that allowed me to connect with LA - the view from the museum is amazing, and worth driving to. It's never truly crowded, and you can go up and read a book on the lawn if you want to.
- Pros: Free, Beautiful
- Cons: Windy, Closes early
Picnic time
by heavenbee
My company had a little shindig not to long ago and i was surprised on how nice it was. I have heard alot of stuff that goes on at night but as far as during the day it was pretty nice. The kids could run around and play without getting hurt and there were plenty of picnic tables for at least a good crowd. The grass was nice and there were a few trees to sit under. The best thing? When you got tired of the fake talking .. you sneek away and get lost behind some trail and watch them in the distance..hee hee
- Cons: mobile bathrooms
One of L.A.s finest retreats!

Griffith Park is a hidden jewel nestled in the heart of Los Angeles. Often overlooked and underappreciated, it's also not very crowded. Attractions within the park include the Gene Autry Western Heritage Museum, the Los Angeles Zoo, and Train Town. There are also innumerable hiking, biking, and horse riding trails, (including horse rentals). If you want to get away from the city for a while, Griffith Park is the place to go.

Griffith park is located right next to the L.A Zoo. Man the horror stories I've heard here. You always hear about some one getting stabbed or shot at this park. If I had kids I wouldnt bring them here. Train Town is cool though which I'm not sure is either part of griffith park or right next to it. But they got some old trains and a train ride that would appeal to youth's. You can also pay a couple bucks and ride a horse around a small trail. Not that bad during the day just stay away during late night hours. You can go jogging around griffith park or just throw the frisbee around. Theres plenty of vendors selling "corn on a stick", churros, ice cream and whatever. Its possible to have a good time at this park. I just dont care too much for it.
