Luxury department store combines haute couture and classic elegance.

In Short
In 1907, the first Neiman Marcus opened in Dallas. Today, you can buy ready-to-wear clothes at locations from coast to coast. Shelves hold merchandise from an all-star team of designers: Manolo Blahnik, Anne Klein, Dolce & Gabbana and more. The shoe department is small and upscale: think Fendi and Prada. Personal shoppers are available to track down the perfect Chanel nail polish to complement the Kate Spade bag that matches the DKNY skirt.
Cute intimate apparel department with fun lines like T Santiago lingerie
by janicelee49 at Citysearch
I was in Neiman Marcus last week looking for lingerie and they have an amazing selection of intimate apparel. They had exactly what I was looking for a with knowledgable sells staff to help me make my selections. I found these amazing bikini like underwear from T. Santiago that are actually waterproof and sweat absorbent! Better yet, they had the most amazing, fun prints with rhinestones and fun patterns. I ended up buying several pairs for myself and as for holiday gifts. I have been shopping at Neiman's for a long time and I like how they carry the latest up and coming designers like T Santiago to keep you coming back to there stores.
- Pros: carrying hot new designer labels
- Cons: a little pricy
Snooty Store
by echen at Citysearch
Of course Neiman Marcus has a large collection of beautiful items from the world's top designers. The only thing I don't enjoy about this placee is the prevalent holier-than-thou attitude of the people working there. If you're not beautiful enough or are wearing the wrong clothes, expect some stares and grimaces. Just because this is the rich man's (or woman's, to be honest) department store, does not mean that the sales people should look down upon customers deemed not "fit" to shop there. Otherwise, Neiman Marcus has very nice things (beautiful shoes, jewelry, hand bags, etc.) to offer.
Also, some items don't really deserve to cost as much as they do, like a dress made in China by some unknown designer with a relatively simple (and possibly plain/unattractive) design.
- Pros: parking, ambience, beautiful things to buy
- Cons: snooty sales people, some things aren't worth paying for (and don't even look their price!)
Best selection of Manolo Blahnik's
by fishdo42 at Citysearch
Purchase clothing and shoes from the best designers. Great selection of merchandise, helpful staff (if they're sure you're going to buy something.) The staff is used to tourists visiting their store and not making any purchases, but if they're sure you're buying and not "just looking" they are very helpful. The cafe has great sandwiches.
- Pros: Wide selection of merchandise, high quality goods
- Cons: expensive, closes earlier than other stores
Cold Employees
by tj1972 at Citysearch
Took an expensive ring back there (where it was purchased) to have it repaired since a stone was loose. The jewelry counter personnel were cold and acted as if they were being put upon to help any customers. Perhaps they are trained to act indifferent, but I would rather spend my money at a store that appreciates its customers.
- Pros: Good Location, Easy Parking
- Cons: Rude Staff at Jewelry Counter
What? No Visa?
by angieb55 at Citysearch
This store will not take visa and they missed out on a $450 sale with me. How embarrasing when I had to leave the shoes at the counter because although I had a perfectly good Visa card, I did not have $450 in cash on me. Their problem. When there actually is service, it's not bad, but if you don't look 'the part' then it's hard to get served here. Give me Nordstrom any day.
- Cons: Expensive, Bad Parking, Snobby
