Great, great, great food!

Wonderfully flavorful food, exceptional service, pleasant atmosphere, attention to every detail!
As some of the reviewers pointed out, I was surprised of how simple sounding dishes tasted sooo good! The food taste was very authentic (I've traveled through northern Italy quite a bit). And, definitely try the deserts - tiramisu is my favorite, it is rarely this good even in Italy!
- Pros: Amazing dishes
Worth a cross-country trip!

I was visiting my uncle in West LA from Indiana a few years ago when he suggested that we go to Divino for dinner because he knew the owner. After just one meal, Divino rose to the number one spot on my list of favorite restaurants. Before I discuss the food, I think it's worth mentioning that the owner of Divino, Goran, greets every single customer at the door and personally escorts you to your table. He also makes sure that he sees you out the door at the end of your visit. A very welcoming atmosphere. The two types of bread they serve before the entrees are amazing. I'm not sure what the exact names are, but my favorite is the thin crispy bread lightly brushed with olive oil. I had the penne ortolana for dinner and the chocolate souffle for desert. The pasta was cooked al dente and the ortolana sauce was full of flavor--the sauce didn't override the individual sauteed vegetables in it. The chocolate souffle took about a half an hour to make, but it was well worth the wait! A dark chocolate lover's paradise--slightly firm on the outside and thick and gooey on the inside--absolute heaven! I have been back to Los Angeles twice since then, and Divino is the first place I go to eat, and over the course of a week's vacation there, I dined there four times. I sit at home in Indiana and remember and crave the food from Divino.
- Pros: Hospitality, ambience, number of specials, quality of food
- Cons: Parking
Brentwood dining destination offers light Italian fare to a tony, body-conscious clientele.

In Short
Soft-green walls, black-and-white photos and high ceilings illuminate the affluent lunch crowd and well-dressed couples who populate this tucked-away trattoria. The northern Italian menu includes daily specials, such as linguine with shrimp, pesto and beets or porcini mushroom risotto. A wood-burning oven turns out thin-crust pizzas like the Ortolana, generously topped with zucchini and artichokes. Classic starters include house spinach salad with goat cheese, tomatoes and pine nuts, lightly tossed with a lemon-infused dressing.

The place is small and cozy but the food is average and the service is extremely slow. There very particular about sitting couples in two seaters unless you're important...then you get a four seater table. I was annoyed that they wouldn't sit my mother and me at a four seater table after we asked to be moved away from the LOUD couple next to us. The first time they moved us, they just sat un next to another noisy couple. When I asked if we could have a big table (just because we wanted to enjoy our meal in peace) they claimed they were reserved. C'mon...early tuesday night? There were about 7 open tables that we could have easily sat in. What really agervated me is that they sat one man, and one woman each at there own big table b/c they knew the host. Then another couple got a four seater next to the window. The food isn't all that good........People that rated it best in LA must work there or something. Pizzacotta and La scala are much better places for good italian.
- Pros: cozy, romantic atmospher

For this area of Brentwood, you can't get a better meal at a better price. The restaurant was surprisingly romantic and the food was a treat. I had the prosciutto pizza and my friends tried the pasta. We all loved it. Good job Divino.

Authentic Italian Food
by foodcritic111
I went there for the first time last week after coming back from a trip to Italy, I must admit that the food at Divino's tastes very authentic. The vegetable soup tastes very fresh, like it was made-to-order and from scratch. I had their white fish special and every bite was heavenly. I would go back.
- Pros: authentic dishes
