Great bar experience
by lottedixon at Citysearch
Lazy afternoons at the Barefoot Bar are my favorite part of spring. Since they changed the glass enclosure around the outdoor bar it's much more pleasant but we still prefer the bar indoors. Whether we're there to watch a game on tv or the dolphins outside, we always have a great time.
Nothing beats the tuna poke rolls but the crab wontons are great, too. Their mai tais are the best but it's still fun to explore the rest of the drink menu.
- Pros: Drinks, ocean view, relaxed atmosphere
- Cons: can be crowded in summer

Duke's Barefoot Bar is a great place to go if you want a quick burger or a long delicious dinner by the water. My family and I recently had a great experience there over the holidays. I will definitly go back. Great staff, great food, amazing view.
- Pros: food, service
- Cons: long lines for patio seating
Classic Malibu Beach Restaurant
by kiercemartin at Citysearch
It doesn't get any more classic Malibu than this place. Super laid-black, great staff, and hands down one of the best views of any restaurant on the Pacific Coast. Definitely a place you can choose to dine up or down. Sitting in the restaurant proper offers great food and prices you would expect from any mid to upscale restaurant around the area, but you can also go much more casual at the Barefoot Bar where food is a little less expensive and the view is just the same. Taco Tuesdays everything in the Barefoot Bar is half price during happy hour, and Friday's Mai-Tai's are half off as well. If you're looking for cost-efficiency and feeling adventurous park for free on the opposite side of PCH, and cross the street. Otherwise, the valet is actually pretty reasonable. Definitely a place to stop by for tourists and locals alike.
GREAT WAITRESSES! GREAT FOOD! BEAUTIFUL VIEW!
by goldenjew at Citysearch
I just moved to Malibu and out of all the restaurants on pch, and in the entire city of malibu, Duke's Barefoot Bar is the best place to eat. When I first walked into the bar, I was greeted by the waitresses as well as the manager. As soon as I sat down on the patio, i was greeted immediately. My waitress was informative, conversational, very witty! (not to mention beautiful). The service definitly made my experience great, the staff seems like they are family, the waitresses seem like best friends, and the bartenders make a mean drink . (I recommend the Hawaiian Ice tea! ) Even the barbacks were friendly!! For food i recommend the Mango BBQ Burger, also, my wife ordered the panko Opah dish and loved it . Overall, the waitresses made the restaurant fun and the food was delicious, and i didnt break the bank! GO! ITS WORTH IT..PLUS YOU GET TO SEE DOLHPINS AND SEALS WHILE U EAT, ITS LIKE SEAWORLD, BUT BETTER.
- Pros: Fun servers
- Cons: no atm around restaurant....BRING CASH
go there now!

i've been here 3 times now and the place is amazing. the view is to die for, the food is scrumptous, everyone is always friendly, and you can get out for under 20 bucks a person without alcohol. i didn't check drink prices. go! theres tons to do around there too
- Pros: everything!
- Cons: nothing bad happened
Great view, but not so for the food.

Just got back from Duke's where we experienced a splendid ocean view, reasonable service, tastey hot rolls, and pricey dinners that were below par. A variety of fresh fish is served with a choice of seven different styles/sides an attempt at gourmet Island/fusion preparation. The chili scallop dish used fresh ingredients, bok choy, onions, pea pods, but the dish was doused in taste-destroying hot sauce..almost inedible. Served with the scallops, the shitake mushroom side was crisp and scrumptious while the ball of sticky white ice was unimaginative. Mahimahi hibachi style was TOO, TOO salty (even for a salt lover), served with udon noodles that were overly sweet, and a small side of unassuming veggies. The prime rib was generous, but tough! Again the sides of fried, shoestring onions and potatoes were better than the main course! While the atmosphere and service are pleasant, the ambiance cannot sub for good food. Perhaps, a meal at another time of day, appetizers, or the drinks should be tried before I give up on Duke's? I hope to not be disappointed the next time...until then, all others order and eat with caution. but enjoy the bird's eye ocean view.
Great food Great view

Eat in the diningroom but skip the bar. The bar was so disorganized! We waited for 30 minutes for our drink order. Our table was ready before our drinks came. After many excuses, the bar waitress brought our drinks & they were the wrong drinks. Once we got that settled with the manager, we had a great meal in the dining area.
- Pros: The view and the food are great
- Cons: Super crowded, reservations make it easier, parking is a tight squeeze
Great bar, great food and great value
by surfergirl14 at Citysearch
If you are looking for incredible ocean views and good food, Duke's is the place to go. The service is good to. The food varies from seafood to chicken dishes and burgers for the little ones. They have some great drinks and the views in the restuarant and the barefoot bar cannot be beat. If you are looking to impress some of your out of town guests, this is the place to go. You can dig your feet into the sand at the barefoot bar, where waves crash right on the rocks in front of you. On Sundays they have a brunch that includes everything under the sun, and everything at the restaurant is reasonably priced. I have yet to hear a complaint from anyone I know who has gone here and everyone I know recommends this restaurant. You can't go wrong with Duke's.
- Pros: great views, great value
- Cons: can get busy on weekends
Best waterfront beach bar
by garywise at Citysearch
Sit on a Malibu beach with the waves crashing up to you & your loved one watching the sun drop behind the horizon, turning the sky incandescent. Now erect a glass wall to protect you both from the wind & spray, with gas heaters to keep you warm. Now add cocktail service and great happy hour food and dig your toes into the sand. This is the way we spend an evening when in LA. One of our favorite spots ever, and worth driving by the nearer, busier, trendier Gl*dstones on PCH. Just go.
- Pros: Sunsets
- Cons: Too far from Houston
